test drive here I come

Post by db » Tue Mar 28, 2006 12:13 pm

first post so be gentle with me :?
next week (weds) i have myself a test drive sorted of the new B7 RS4....now then, many of you own, have driven and know the whole audi thing alot more than me (currently im on the blue propeller dark side).....so aside from the tight fitting seats (and the oncoming traffic)....anything else i should be focussing on during those precious moments on board???

cheers

Probably just keeping the grin off your face, so the aforementioned oncoming traffic won't think you should be in an asylum...

Have fun!

I know my Audi dealership quite well but they were reluctant to give me a test drive unless I showed some serious interest...

Have fun.

It seems that Audi dealerships are not playing with an even hand reference test drives

Riz don't call them...Just go down there with license in hand and demand one.

I hadt to pick my TT up after some warranty work. Before i left to pick it up i phoned my salesman and said ill be there in 15 minutes can i have a go of the RS4. He said he will ask but isnt sure. Gets to the dealer. Salesman has a big grin on his face. I get the keys and im off. They knew i wasnt serious about buying the car and knew i just wanted a 30 minute jolly. But once i decided i wanted one and ordered it. I said to the salesman that i bet hes happy they gave me a test drive. He said that he asked his boss and said. You may aswell let him have ago. You never know with Jamie.(had 3 new TT's in 2 years after 3 test drives of each model  ) He said his boss said good point give him the keys. :D . Now im like a expecting father :D

Last time I chased my numpty he said 'oh I was just about to call you' and when asked when I could have a test drive he said 'we will have a car in a couple of weeks'. That was when the Avant appeared which was almost a month ago. I told him to call me when it was in and I fully expect to never hear a thing.

He has done fek all and seems to expect me to chase him and drop 55K into his lap. Well I will happily play hardball as I have written confirmation that I will receive the first Avant from them.

Back in July I also asked about the Le Mans as I wanted to place a deposit on that. 'I will keep you informed' was the repsonse, he has never mentioned it since and I gather some other dealers have taken deposits.

Lazy fekkers....

Next time you put a deposit down go to the salesman on the next desk...That'll upset him.

Been offered my test drive for next week, he said he would be phoning round all 'order down' customers and getting them in.. Our salesman is a real good lad, so believe he will email/phone. We have two RS4 orders down with him, both expected at the same time.. its like expecting twins!!

Can't wait!! just hope the seats aren't too tight! im waist 32 and 5"11 so should be ok..
Still trying to figure our how im going to break it to my mum that she is going to have difficulty getting in/out the front seat, guess its back seat taxi riding for her while i have this car!!
On Order: Audi RS5 4.2 V8 Est 450bhp? 08/09?

Bmw 335d Coupe 56/06 & Merc S320 L CDI 56/06

Previous: Audi RS4 B7 06, Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE, All the E46's.. Coupe/Cab/Saloon.

Sounds like the whole test drive thing is a little patchy, my dealer is chasing ME for a test drive, the car in question is only for demo until June, , so probably pre-ordered by a customer as an ex-demo or something, he even tells me that he could not get me a car if I want to spec it myself until Jan 07, but still wants me to get behind the wheel.

I have had 3 Audi's of them in 18 months though, and they know I am seriously considering the RS or an R8.

But the other day I was passing another Dealer, so I popped in to see if they has an RS just for a look see, sure enough they had a stunning Sprint Blue one, they watched me pull up in my B5 RS, but did not even approach me I when I looked around the B7, I finally had to ask what spec it was in to get some dialogue going, but total dis-interest in getting me to even talk about a purchase, really bizzare behaviour............................ :?
The younger yoof did get around to telling me the engine was good for 700hp though when tuned, I then beat a hasty retreat...................
