It sounds feasible. Although, with the amount of RS4 saloon's that now appear to be 'immediately' available, I wouldn't put an order in. Probably best to just ring round the dealers until you find one with a suitable spec and get it before the end of the month!!!

Order books are closed, I think alot of people that they can walk into any dealership and order to spec.

You can only order to spec now if you find a dealer who still has allocated stock to them.

Production is closed at the moment from what I hear.

Just my two pence worth........... how the frig can you order to spec now if the orders are closed. Ordering to spec means that you already have a build slot....... not likely if orders have closed...... think about it. Sounds like usual BS from spotty oik in showroom. Have to agree with Gumballer on this, there are cars out their, with reasonable specs already built and looking for a driveway to sit on........... go with one of these.

Sorry Simple1 perhaps I should have been more clear... what im trying to say is that if you walk into a dealership who has no allocation left then they wont take your order for this year.

But you can ring around dealerships like I did and found a dealership with a allocation available for september and obviously I could spec it to whatever I liked..... if you search around you WILL find some smaller not so popular dealerships with a allocated car left etc.....

So order books are closed for cars this year but that doesnt mean they are sold out... just means all the allocation has been issued to dealerships... so you got to go on the hunt..... worst case do what you said Simple1 and look for a car which has already been spec`ed.... but thats only if you cant find a dealer with a allocated car.....

Does that make sense... I think ive confused myself now ;)

yep........ thats as clear as mud then......... it does seem that dealerships had to bid for places, talking to my local dealership, even though they didnt offer me coffee at the launch party :<beep>_you: they were only able to bid and get two allocations of saloons, one of which will be their demo car......... but they have 9 orders...... work that one out.

My dealer says if he pays ME a deposit I can order a cabriolet , but I turned him down. ;)

The RS4 brand was diluted when they produced a saloon and is completely decimated with the introduction of a cabriolet.

So does this mean dilution started with the production of the old RS6 saloon and Audi are just running with this theme or....do some on this forum have blinkers on with regards to the B5 RS4 and therefore believe that nothing else can ever be an RS in the true sense of the word?

I dont subscribe to this point of view personally and as such have placed a speculative order for an RS Q7 Cabriolet TDI (red i of course!) :bigblink: :kissmyrings: :audibash: :knob:  :drink:

I agree. The cab has really taken the brand downmarket.

I still think its way to early to say that the brand has gone down market..... if they head the BMW "M" route which it looks like they are doing, it will only help Audi & quattro GmbH in the long term... although it will mean mass produced RS cars which will lose the magical feel...... common but good, just like the current BMW M3.

RS cars will just get better and better as the company expands, yes the RS brand is have a big change in the way its heading.... it seems gone are the limited numbers and rare cars and in comes mass produced cars.....

I still feel for me the RS4 does it...... it just feels right for me.....

RS brand dilution began for me, when Audi started offering original RS4 look - alike alloys for the A2 FFS. There never was a model derivative A2 FFS, the FFS stands for "for <beep>'s sake!"

One fitted the genuine 19 inch RS6 alloys instead and thwack!! like a slap round the back of the head with a large wet halibut, five pico seconds later that alloy becomes a deal - of - the - week look alikey pikey offering in the sodding S - Line range

RS brand dilution has continued apace to the extent that now even an old dyed in the wool Audi aficionado such as myself cant tell an S - Line shopping tart from a bona bahnstorming RS. The worst of it is that thanks to this corporate greed, now I dont even care! Sad really.

Test drive on Monday, Riz :)

Without the bespoke yet understated look of the old 4, it had better have the dynamics of an Exige, and be able to pull like a short changed whore...

Mmmmmm I think some people are asking far too much from this new RS4, for owners of the old RS4, it seems most arent going to go for the B7 RS4.

The new B7 RS4 for me feels right and makes me feel good inside..... im passionate about cars and to me it is special.
