Bucket Seats

I have sat a couple of times in an RS4 in my local showroom and have to say that the bucket seats certainly feel very tight. Has anybody who has already got their RS4 had any issues with the seats becoming uncomfortable over a long journey?
Would appreciate any comments.

I seriously looked at buying a physical car with the bucket seats (as just about all are I guess) but found them too tight in the seat base. In comparison, my S4 seats are fine (Avant and Cab, as they are different in each) so if I factory ordered I would have the S4 Recaros.

Sat in my local dealers demonstrator yesterday fitted with the bucket seats. Certainly a comfy fit. Almost had to hold the door sill and push myself out.
Worried about XS wear on leather over time so might need to fit some sort of cover, which I suppose defeats the object of having such wonderful looking seats.
Would possibly consider changing my order to bucket seats if it wasn't for the fact that my car is being built next week.
Fruit for lunch for the next 4 weeks I guess!

I wouldn't buy just on the basis of sitting in the car at the dealers. I did that first and thought wow these seats are so supportive. When I was towards the end of the hour test drive they had become very uncomfortable. Would have hated to be stuck in them for long journeys. If you are like me and picky about the support/comfort of the seats don't but until you have had a long test drive

I spent a week driving my friend's B7 with buckets. I would NEVER order the bucket seats unless you only spend an hour in your car. They are really uncomfortable unless you are a stick insect. He has been quoted Eur7500 to have them removed and is thinking about it.

Also a big problem on the bucket seats is the side wear each time you get in and out. It wont be long before they look a bit tatty.
More an issue with jeans etc I guess.

I sat in one with bucket seats, I must say it put me right off (and my brother who is not into cars at all). I then sat in a Lancer Evo9 and the seats in that felt more comfy and certainly easier to get into/out of. Getting out of the RS4 was the closest I have ever come to getting out of the GT40 - apart from getting out of a GT40...very dissapointed but I'm sure the recaro's or the other option will be better.

Agree with Matt, I don't do super long journeys as a rule, so the comfort issue wouldn't necessarily stop me buying a certain seat. I wouldn't spec these seats because a) I don't like them and b) I have seen some that have been used and the outside bolster was already looking a mess and already spoiing the otherwise lovely interior. Recaros far more stylish and less wide-boy.

I'm told its becoming a bit of an issue with people ordering the car blind and then not fitting in the buckets but by then its too late to change the order. I would strongly urge anyone with a 'larger frame' to consider the S4 Recaro seat option instead.

Can Audi really have messed up with these seats? Surely they've had drivers in them for hours doing endurence tests on the car and the ergonomics?
Are most of the members of this forum 'healthy' eaters?
I am a slim (athletic good sense of humour

) guy and felt very snug I must admit. Think they would be OK with me long jounrney but now I am worried that I may never be able to sell an RS4 that has its standard seats.

We also need some comments from somebody who has already got their RS4?
I am also now worried about how I will get on with the car long term and on long journeys!!

With all that testing it seems strange I agree, but they didn't get it right as far as I am concerned, and that's all that matters! I am big, bubbly with GSOH, and I do a lot for charity. I hate mean people and I love wine bars, the theatre and spending time with my family and my pet tortoise.
But I still don't like 'em.
Has anyone got pics of the ones we are calling Recaros?

I bought a new 987 Boxster S last year which had sports seats. I sold it after a few months as the seats were far too narrow for me over the shoulders.

So how long did Jeremy Clarkson sit in them then because he isn't a small fellow
I've finally found a cancelled RS4 with open spec due to be confirmed in the next few days and this is my hot topic - bucket, recaro, bucket, recaro, bucket, recora, missano, daytona, phantom, sports suspension, bucket, recaro, ...
