Stolen B7-RS4 Misano Red
Stolen B7-RS4 Misano Red
Audi UK have today notified all UK Dealers via Desktop, that a B7-RS4 has been stolen; the car supplied to its owner on the 1st is now missing.
Keys believed to have been stolen from owners house overnight, the car had a tracker, but when activated did not provide any information.
As you can imagine this would lead me to believe the car has already been exported and stolen to order.
Sleep with your keys; including spares under your pillow; or sleep in your car.
Matt

D'you know, the thought of this happening nearly stopped my ordering the car. If your car goes, you make a claim and thats that, you do what you can to make sure it doesn't happen. But what really worries me is the thought of some b*stard breaking into to my house with my young son asleep and stealing the keys. Do you leave them on show so they take them and go, do you sleep with them under the pillow right next to your baseball bat?
Do you really need that sort of aggrevation and worry for the sake of a car? Joy riders can't steal modern cars anymore, it's the hardcore, we want the car at any cost criminal who is prepared to break into your home and do whats necessary to get the keys.
Ok, I ordered the car anyway but all this went through my mind and to be honest, if it ever happened to me, I'd never forgive myself if any harm came to my family.
I'm sure some of you will think I'm being melodramatic but I bet everyone reading this knows or has heard of somebody who has had their car stolen this way. And lets face it, by having a brand new RS4 on the drive or garage for that matter, you just increased the risk dramatically.
So you fit a tracker or similar device. Any profesional criminal is going to assume the vehicle has a device fitted and will deal with it quite quickly. There are only so many places they get hidden away and if you really know what you're doing there are devices available to listen to the signals and pin point them within the car. You're never going to stop the professional criminal who is stealing to order as witness the above theft. I think I'm going to leave the keys downstairs with a note saying don't wake the kids.

A mate of mine in birmingham had his scooby nicked three times. Each time the car was recovered via a tracker.
However the final straw came when a group of heavies turned up on his drive and stole his car whilst he watched from the kitchen window, they knew that in force they were so intimidating that he would not make a challenge, and they would be away with the car befor the plod arrived. He decided not to put himself in that position again and sold the car. Problem is if they really want it, they will find a way of getting it, no matter what is done to secure the car.

That poor guy had taken delivery of his new car that he probably saved (and waited) for.
Under my bed:
2x car keys
1x paintball gun (loaded)
1x 5,000,000 candle power halogen torch
1x 7 Iron
1x squash raquet.
And I'm not kidding. The shotgun unfortuntely must be locked in a cabinate, but still comes out to keep me company sometimes.
I would have no issue whatsoever using any of the above, individually or all at once. Tony Martin deserved a medal.

Just playing devils advocate for a moment but if someone appeared at your bedroom door with a gun, knife or anything else remotely sharp you'd dive under your bed and pull out a golf club. It's only going to go badly wrong, surely?bobjebb wrote:

My house was done over late last year for the car. It has slightly put me off the RS4, so I will probably do a debadge and body coloured mirrors jobbie if I eventually own one. Although there will be no hiding what it is.
The stats for people's weapons being used against them is something like 80%. I echo Davey_B's comments, the scum will be ready for action and charged on adrenalin.
There are two types of scumbags - those who will use physical force to get the car and those who will break in while you are out.
You can do quite a bit to prevent the latter, but the former begs the question is it worth it? the car is insured and replaceable.
As for tracker, what a pile of sh1t? The scum will know the locations it can be fitted to the car and have it in a skip within an hour. Friend lost 2 Mercs (SL55 & CL500) in one night, both with trackers - never recovered.
Another point worth noting from another forum was a guy with a Merc ML, have been stolen recovered twice as it had the tracker and they found it quickly both times. Car was an 03 plate with average miles and guess what the dealer offered him part-ex? 6K, because it had been stolen recovered. Tracker does not benefit the car owner, it benefits the insurance company.

Simon,
The Tracker Monitor is OK if you set good "Home Times", that way if you car moves after 10pm (or whatever time you set) you get the call from the monitoring station. If the monitoring station doesn’t get a reply, because you have been tied up, then the Police are informed.
If you want a really good system, get the Spy BALL system, which has a GSM phone build into it, so you call phone your car up and turnoff the engine remotely.
I know quite a few people think Tracker is Cr*p, however it does have it uses.
PS, BOB what your handicap at Golf and burglars

Well my 7 is my least favourite club on the course, so I keep it under the bed, not in it's bag. Handicap a rather average 12ish, but I only play when it's sunny.
My car has had extra immobilisers and alarms put on it, so I'd have thought that they'd have to drag me out to start it for them, then I suppose it would get nasty, it's not in may nature to let it go.
Damon your comments are bizzarly accurate - my reasons are "they're there for home security, dear"..
Matt, can you set "Home Times" with Tracker Horizon? and do you have a web address for spyball?
