Quite funny. A few weeks ago when I asked the dealer about the chances of a cancelled order he said there would be none as the deposit taken for the cars was so big. Today he rings me up and says there is a physical car in the showroon right now for sale. Daytona with tech pack. Sadly it has the buckets which I hate. Funny though that they offer it to someone like me who hasn't ordered one as opposed to letting someone with a delivery date of Dec jump up the queue(which is what they promise!)

Why do the salemen lie so much? Do they think we're stupid?

I heard one telling a customer that there were only going to be 150 sold in the UK!!!

Well best way to deal with the sales side of things from Audi is to deal with the salesman and the sales manager! I did this and my RS4 is going to defo be here before Sept 1st!

I only ordered it about a month ago.

I was told there would only be 170 sold in the UK - the same salesman who told me I was not worthy of a testdrive because I havent ordered one...!

I hate the buckets too - I'm too big for them in the thigh (didn't think I was fat before!).

My dealer reckons after 500 RS4s have been sold, production will stop! Look out for rs4s for £40k in 6 months time!

I also feel that the saloon production may well end once the production shifts to building the Avant and Cab RS4.

I would have a wild guess and say that the following will be produced for the UK before the end of the RS4 in 2007.

Probably very likely... Don't think anyone is disputing that they've made a great car. They've just made too many of them.

I think I'll be taking the nearly new route...

I don’t know where you are getting these figures from, but if your don’t have a clue about numbers why speculate; I know it may make an interesting topic but it does not help.

For the record; the current Audi thinking; yes subject to change is as follows:

Production 2006 (UK Market, excluding imports)

Saloon Under 185
Avant Under 145
Cabs Under 60

Production 2007 (UK Market, excluding imports)
Figures have not been decided, but factory allocation for:

Saloon 275
Avant 275
Cab Under 275

As I have stated, each dealer has a view, each salesman has a view, but the RS brand is just as important to Audi as it is to customers, past and current. The RS4 will not be released in mass like the M3 it will remain a very special car. The RS4 will hold is value well, and I strongly disagree with comments like “RS4`s will be worth 40k in six months time”

An 06 plate RS4 will still be going for just under list price in 6 months.

Come on now, we've only just got this car after waiting months and already there is talk of how much the car is going to depreciate. I've seen this on other car forums where they talk the value of the car down and worry how much it's worth instead of enjoying the car. Turn it around the other way, I think there will be a demand for this car. As MattC says there aren't that many coming in therefore this should hold the prices up well.

Where are you getting your figures from then ?

There is no doubt at all that RS4's will be trading at £40-42k by the end of the year, retailing for £3k/4k above those figures.

Matt, I'm not trying to talk values down and agree that if you buy a car you should be ready for the deprec but enjoy the car etc.

Where have you got your numbers from? Why do you think that Audi will not produce/release in mass? Thats what all companies do now inc Porsche, Ferrari etc
