Hi
I am a new user. I have had an RS4 Avant on order for a while. It is time to spec it now for circa July delivery. My spec takes me to £52K+£3K=£55K.
I have got an option on a RS4 Cab from the same dealer (also circa July delivery). The Cab works out at £59.6K+£1K=>£60K. If I go for the Cab I would formally move my order and deposit over.
The Cab option is open to Monday. I am led to believe that there will be less than 100 Cabs this year (?) and that my dealer has an allocation of 1.
I am leaning towards the Cab option as the idea of the RS4 noise in a Cab is very tempting (I have driven the RS4 demonstrator). The Cab is only available in manual which is good for me (but maybe not for others).
At this kind of money I need to think very carefully about which would have the best residuals and be the easiest to sell. I would keep the RS4 for 1 to 2 years (probably 2).
Any views and info on Cab allocations would be much appreciated.

RS4 Avant or RS4 Cab - Help Please
RE: RS4 Avant or RS4 Cab - Help Please
Hi there, I would say 16 RS4 cabs would make it to the UK in 2006 and the rest next year, should be 60 in total in the UK and not 100.
I would buy the cab a.s.a.p as the residuals will be rock solid, it`ll be a very rare car indeed.
Ring them up and order it a.s.a.p

Small volume doesn't always mean high residuals - look at the CLK55 AMG Cab!
The serious RS4 money will be in Avants, then Saloons, then Cabs. £60k is a lot of £ when you can pick up a new S4 Cab for nearly £20k less. (FWIW you can get 04 reg S4 Cabs for £27/28k).
I've got both an S4 Avant and an S4 Cab. The Cab is deeply impressive and gives little away to the Avant but it does weigh 135kg more and is led more by its nose in corners. If you really push it then it rolls more and pushes wider more easily.
I would take whichever you really want irrespective of what the import volumes will be like. They are all likely to be great cars but the Cab is such an unknown quantity that I would play safe with the Avant.

Maserati GranTurismo GTS Auto, S3 Sportback, TT2 3.2 Roadster, Disco3 for the heavy stuff.

Where do you get the number 16 in 2006 from? I've seen an Audi internal memo saying deliveries from July06. Do you really think only 16 cars will be delivered between July-Dec06 throughout the UK?
Why do you think it will be a rare car with rock solid residuals? It will be a fantastic car but like all big engined petrol drinking high insurance group cars it will depreciate.
I think the words rose tinted come to mind....
RE: Re: RE: RS4 Avant or RS4 Cab - Help Please
Well I enquired at two dealerships and both stated the 16 cars for this year, probably wrong.
Well cabs have always held good residuals compared to their saloon or estate models, the M3 cabs held up well. I think that because there will only be 60 cars in the UK the demand for them in 2-3 years time will be high hence higher residuals, but this doesnt mean they wont lose value, just lose less than the saloons or avants.

I decided between the RS4 Avant and RS4 Cab. I went for the Cab subject to the rest of the deal being acceptable.
I still would be interested in any further info on overall Cab allocations as I am still a bit unsure i.e. will demand exceed supply or am I looking at another residual burn.
What colour? Sprint Blue + Black leather, Daytona + Black leather, Avus + Black Leather ??

I don't like the look of Sprint Blue with a black hood (all the launch S4 Cabs came this way) and havn't seem one with a blue hood. I find that Dolphin Grey looks a bit flat in the S4 Cab but not sure about Daytona or Avus.
My S4 Cab is in Brilliant Red and it looks great. So Misano? I've seen an RS4 saloon in Misano and it was excellent.

Sorry the cab, just looks CR*P, but thats just me.
I would say about 45% residual value after 3 years (MAX)
