More saloons to be offered

Post by FrankC » Sun Mar 05, 2006 11:02 am

Local dealer has given me the chance to order a saloon for late 06 delivery.
Due to the demand for the RS4,AUDI will make available more order slots for the saloon this year.

Any idea what the UK allocation for this car was?
Cheers

Makes the whole UK production run of 400 B5 RS4's seem so low. You boys better be prepared for some depreciation!
Maserati GranTurismo GTS Auto, S3 Sportback, TT2 3.2 Roadster, Disco3 for the heavy stuff.

I think this was surely going to happen anyway with a big V8 engine etc.

The B5 RS4 was produced for about 1.5 years with a total of 6000 units worldwide, 400 approx came to the UK.

The new RS4 production ends in 2007 if im correct.
The new RS4 wont be "as" rare or limited compared to the B5 model but still exclusive in numbers.... the Golf R32 ended with about 2300 units in the UK and still I dont see very many about.

I think the RS4 will still be a rare car.

RS4 production will end but probably due to the fact that the B7 will end. They'll then be the all new B8 out. The new car won't help residuals even if a performance model doesn't come out straight away.
B8 A4 Avant quattro
Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird
Suzuki GSXR1000 (Track bike)
B6 S4 (AMD Stage 3) - GONE
8N TT (APR/AMD/MTM) - GONE

haa haa haaaa it does make me laugh reading these threads, I see a pattern.

B5 owners that are not buying the B7 model..majority think the new car is a waste of 50K, Audi are bulding far to many and still insit on comparing their mod'd B5s against it. And the B8 will be out in no time.

I notice that there must be a few B5 owners upgraded to the B7 as the amount of B5s on sale on Pisthead had doubled, either that or there is a worry about the price dropping a lot further and people are bailing out.

The B7 will be my first Audi and I have ordered the saloon version, The B5 and RS6 in Avant form never apealed since I don't need that space and wouldn't buy one just for the sake of it. The B5 and B7 are totally differenet cars and as I have stated before on this forum its worth every penny of the £50K when you see what new technology has been used.

Agree they are totally different cars - but I think that may be the point. I personally think the new B7 looks awesome and will be a hell of a car, but I can also see how a long term audi enthusiast woud see the RS brand as something different to (for example) the M of BMW, but now the RS brand appears to be the same as the BMW M brand.

Who would of bet 5 years ago on a RS4 Cab :)

Which begs the question, can a convertible be cool? Had this debate with the guys I work with and there are only a few cars you can drive without a roof and get away with it.

TVR
Westfield/Morgan (and the many other derivatives and lookalikes)
Aston (debatable that one)

Can't think of anymore.
RS4 Straight out the box - gone :-(

S6 5.2 V10 Avant (It's for the kids you know ;-))

Dunc yeh agree, RS could lose direction with the Cab for sure, offering a saloon has made them a sh1t load of dosh and basically stole the run on the BMW so looks like Audis direction may have changed generally. I am one of those that would have bought an M3 (subject to what it finally looked like) if the only RS4 option had again only been the Avant.

Its like everything, no one likes change ..may be the RS4 should have remained an Avant!

The RS brand was a something very special to Audi - hey they have only made RS2, RS4 and RS6 in the last 15 odd years, but the RS6 + was a mistake as is the RS4 Cab . Audi have at a stroke devalued the S cars which I viewed as direct competitors to the M BM's and AMG mercs and devalued the RS brand on one easy action.

If they bring out an RS4 Plus or add DSG to the RS4 then there will be no confidence in the brand for the future.

I can't wait to get my RS4 - I have saved my cash for it (put deposit down day I saw it in Autocar 04) but as I'm sure many RS6 owners were a little upset when the RS6 Plus came out, I will be if they do the same again. Then whats the point of an RS in the first place its not the optimum piecce of machinery day one. Whats next an RSS ?

Sorry to ramble - just a little hacked off today!

PS it even annoys me that the Ceramic brakes are not std - or even an option- surely they save more weight then any other part of the car- and should be on the ultimate RS branded car rather than the S8!!
