New RS4 AVANT on Order

As the above states, great news !
However...I have read that the bucket seats are so large that it renders the back seats useless. If this is the case,I may as well get a 997! I wanted the RS4 so I can use my car for the family as well.

Haven't seen an RS4 yet with the bucket seats but would like to hear from anyone who has. It's not a major probem as Audi do offer seats similar to those out of th S4 ( Which I've had,& like )

Do I order sat nav??

Audi salesmen are no good at maths.I asked my dealer if it made much difference ordering sat nav as I want to drive the car and not look or be spoken to by a machine ( I have my wife for that ! )

His answer was this: - Sat nav adds a trade in value over and above a car without of £950.00 - £1250.00 depending on how many cars are on the market.

Fine I said,but..It's going to cost me £1750.00 to add it! I reckon you're better of without it and use service stations, where you will visit -Often! to read your map & get your bearings and carry on enjoying driving.

One more thing: Silver,Avus or Daytona grey.
I'll go with the majority as all colours are nice.

Thanks for any advice posted

Seats

Post by geebee » Fri Feb 24, 2006 10:35 am

I am on the large size and I too have some concerns about the RS bucket seats esp the seat cushion width. I sat in a car recently and the seat certainly holds you tight. I presume even more so when the Sports button is pressed ?

Is it hard to get in and out of the car with those "ears" on the seat cushion ?

By now some members have driven the cars and have experienced this first hand.

Am contemplating ordering the electric Recaro sports seats.

Wld this affect future trade in values for a car spec with the elec Recaro seats ?

Trying to finalise my firm order this week.

Any advice wld be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance. :D :D

I reckon it won't change the residuals as Audi will limit the amount of cars made.I also think that they may discourage drivers away from the effic of this car being able to house four adults and luggage if they start to infringe on easy access etc.I've ordered mine with the Recaro seats, which I have experienced 1st hand in my S4 Avant -Fantastic seats!

I think alot of drivers will be ordering these seats as this car appeals more to over 35's.people with kids etc who cannot justify a 911.If Audi starst to go to far away from the original concept of a subtle sedan/avant image, people I'm sure will start to stry and go for a different brand.

Hope thsi helps

I really wish people weren't so hung up on the bucket seats! I will/would definately consider the 'Recaros'., they're so much more understated. But am put off purely because of resale - but then why? Just because RS246 members only seem to want bucket seats, it doesn't mean future Jo Public will - and it's a much more mainstream car than the B5. I don't get the appeal really - it's not a racing car, it's a luxury 4/5 door/convertable, so the electric grippy seats are surely a bit of a gimmick, no? Does one really need to be 'held in' on his way to Sainsbury's? Unless of course they are being bought by people who intend to track them all day long. For me it's a bit like putting a f*ck off spoiler on the boot - unecessary and looks out of place.

I know I'm in the minority, so I shall step back now...
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

You're not alone.
Audi's appeal to me has allways been that of keeping things simple, not shouting to loud and attracting buyers that want consistent understated fast cars.

If they take this to far,I off to Porsche land where most recentley, there cars are looking just as understated in world that is becoming more " Ching "

The bucket seats were too tight around the thighs for me so if I ordered one I would go for the S4 Saloon/Avant Recaros' which are excellent. This means that I would get side airbags and electric adjustment as well.

Regarding Sat Nav I don't use mine on my Disco and can't understand the fuss but its becoming very important on any cars over £40k. It adds weight mind you! If I was keeping the car over three years then I wouldn't bother.
Maserati GranTurismo GTS Auto, S3 Sportback, TT2 3.2 Roadster, Disco3 for the heavy stuff.

The only need to think about what options other people want is if/when you come to sell it, will you trade it at a dealer or sell it privately.

If you trade it at a dealer then listen to what the dealer thinks you should have as he will set the price.

If you sell privately then listen to what the public want.

In any case, i doubt you will ever get the price of options back again, the only real benefit may be a quicker private sale.

Just go through the list and choose what you want to have, not what you think other people may want.

When it comes to options and ordering surely you should choose what you want over what is best to sell as you are not going to sell the car in the immediate future?

As for the buckets, they come in conjunction with the lambo wheel c/w sport button etc. My feeling was you should keep all the exclusive kit on the rs4 that differentiates it from the rest of the range. I’m 6'9" and found the only problem with the buckets was the side bolster for getting in. I am sure after no time I will become a dab hand at getting in and out no probs.

The only option I wasn’t keen on was the arm rest, it was on the demo I drove and when down interferes with changing gear and when up, I melted my elbow off of it when getting in the car. Glad I didn’t go for that one.

The dealer tried to put me off the sports suspension but now I’ve seen the car next to another I am well chuffed I went for sports plus suspension

Daytona
Sports Suspension Plus
Tech Pack
Auto opening boot
Light Rain Sensors
Carbon
Black, black, black
RS4 Buckets

At the dealership now, registered on Wednesday. Roll on Wednesday

Have you driven a demo?

If not I guarentee there is no way you will be able to wait 1000, let alone 2000 miles before you give it some beans!

I was thinking about driving for 310 miles turning around and coming back on wednesday!
