Has anyone noticed....

I don't know if its just me being stupid or something, but the other day I had the deepest displeasure to find myself in a VW dealership, anyway to cut a long story short, the Golf GTi steering wheel looks identical to the RS4 item (minus sport button, obviously) and the Golf R32 has identical looking seats to the RS4 one's (don't know if they have electric bolsters, etc).
Worrying to have all this kit in cars under half the price.
Was half expecting to open up the bonnet of a Polo and find a stonking great 4.2 V8 FSI in there
Oh, and just another worrying fact, I read in Whatcar that they estimate the retained value of an RS4 after 3 years will be 46%!!! They put the S4 at 52%

How the feck would they know......... the car is not even on the market yet..

Current model is 50% after five years
Is a fact that performance cars usually fall quickly then level out.

I doubt that the R32 or GTi steering wheels are the same as the RS4`s one... the RS4 wheel is from Lamborghini.
Also the R32 seats dont have inflatable side bolsters or come in the high grade RS4 leather....
Dont worry about values in 2 -3 - 5 years time..... enjoy the car as much as possible.

Watch the residuals. The 2006 allocation of UK saloons (~600) alone is more than the entire number of B5 RS4 produced for the UK.
Like the RS6 this is a volume production car. I have already been offered new cars at list where I would the first owner. It may be great but it will depreciate (ask any E55 Kompressor owner).

Yes but when you buy a car like this, do you really think about depreciation?

I paid 68K for my E55 estate with more toys than u can use, well the company did

trade in value at 18 months...... £50k with 10k miles, estimated value at trade in after 3 years is £40K so slightly less than 46% drop..... only problem with the estate is that it does not book in Glasses, where as the saloon does! Dealers do have a habit of taking the mick anyway, have found in the past that serious specialist dealers bid more than dealership.

I was waiting for the Avant which seems to be taking forever so i cancelled my order and got my deposit back. Worked out the depreciation and if paid £55k it would probably only be worth 25-30k in 3 years time!!
Instead just purchased 03 plate 911 turbo 420bhp 0-60 in 4.2 and 191!! for the same money,so no comparasion in my opinion to the Audi in terms of performance and wow factor. Also car will still be worth 40k in 2-3 years time. Still like the Audi though and was a tough decision to make.

Yep, the brochure doesn't show the optional extra 'sports seats' which I swear are identical to an RS4's.
Anyway, I'm not bothered, the deposits been cashed and the car will be here anyday and I don't think there's another 4 door saloon car like it!
Except maybe the M5, but after owning an e30 M3, e36 M3, e46 M3 CSL and e39 M5, I have discovered that BMW's are unlucky for me, as everytime I get one things turn upside down!

LOL no offence but took you a while to accept this fact. Persisitance can pay off - as Robert the Bruce knows only too well. I believe there was a spider involved in that story too. Is this a sign for you Gumball 3000?
Lets hope you dont have the same run of bad luck with Audis my man!

Hey, it did take a while - I thought I was just being a superstitous fool, but no the CSL proved that was not the case! Audi's are ok. I've had a TT (when they were cool) and more recently an RS6 Avant, and both were good cars that looked after me. Lets hope the RS4 will continue the theme....

When WAS that exactly?? LOL
On a serious note was surprised to see how cheap they are these days but suppose thats what happens when the manufacturer floods the market
