RS4 number plates

Not that I'm spending another Friday afternoon surfing the net or anything but.... I just did a quick search on the dvla website and there are loads of really good plates still available. A few examples and prices below:-

RS04 UFO - £499
RS04 JET - £799
RS04 RED - £999 (Misano, very nice)
RS04 YES - £499
RS04 PRO - £499
RS04 NUT - £499
RS04 SPY - £699 (Maybe one for the Cabrio)
RS04 GUN - £799
RS04 LAD - £499
RS04 NET - £499
RS04 GAS - £499
RS04 JAM - £499 (My personal favourite)

All reasonably priced too. I wonder how long it will take before some of these reg companies buy them up and add a nought to the price!

Have to agree, 500 quid to make my car look 2 years older? I'd rather spend it on petrol....

I also dont like the idea of buying a "04" reg plate..... I will be putting my S3 plate on for the time being....

Something like R5 XXX would look good but might be expensive.

Yep, I agree that it might look a bit iffy with an 04 plate on, but to be honest anyone with the slightest whiff of petrol running through their veins would know that the earliest B7 RS4's are 06's and would probably see the plate for what it is.

Its all subjective, but I do really like them and I will hold my hands up to say that when the beast finally arrives I will probably get one.....

£500 worth of fuel won't get you very far in one of these anyway

Saw the same plates and thought exactly the same. No way i could bring myself to putting an 04 plate on. Didn't fancy having the 'i thought you were getting a NEW car' conversation every 5 minutes.

Anyway found a much better plate for less. V8 XRS for £399 from DVLA. Just squeeze a small gap between the X & R (illegal i know but you see it on cars everyday) and its perfect. There are still 4 V8 *RS plates left if anyone's interested.

Also loads of *R54 AUD if you don't mind the 54 plate.

Well i've got a bil of dillema regarding another plate i've found.
Basically lady has an early 80's car registered from new and her husband had a plate transferred onto it. This is KAM ** which is perfect for me, for obvious reasons. She is offering it at a very good price, but is selling it WITH the car, which has not been driven since 1996 and has been rotting in a barn since that date. Its tax disc shows the plate and expired in 96 (no subsequent tax disc ever purchased) and she has the V5 document for the car with again the plate showing as KAM **.

She is selling the car with it, as she knows the car is worthless and would cost thousands to do up.
I've got a plate right now and have transferred it from car to car since 2001, but i've never done a plate trasnfer off a car which has no tax, no MOT and no insurance. Anyone had any experience with this?

I could have the car recovered onto my driveway and would be willing to tax it, insure it and even get an MOT from a friend (if i ask nicely enough), would this be all that is required? There is no certificate of entitlement for the plate, and the DVLA website doesn't answer this question directly in any sense. The plate at the price asked is definitely worth the hassle, but i just want to find out the easiest way of going about getting this off the car. I would scrap the car afterwards, give it to the fire brigade or take it down a scrapyard, so would get all my money back for the tax, insurance etc.

Unfortunately, in order to transfer/retain a reg number from a car of MOT(able) age, you need to provide a current valid V5 in your name, tax disc and MOT cert. You don't need to provide an insurance certificate, but you need this to get the tax disc (obviously). Its a bit of a pain in the RS, but if the plate is good it might be worth it.

Oh and occasionally the DVLA will ask to inspect the car - as they did with my last plate change!

Anyway, going back to the RS04 plates, who cares about people thinking the car is 2 years older, the plates look good. I looked for RS04 AUD - but its already gone. Not to worry, I'm planning on getting myself another one first thing in the morning.
