Hey Ian - I nearly bought your old gt3 mk1 a while back ! - small world eh! (ended up getting a CSL, which I can see you're also considering !)

I think you'd have a good chance of getting hold of one, there's been a few cancelled orders etc...I suppose it depends if you're willing to be flexible on spec....

Hi Dave how are you?

Did you keep the Audi rather than go down the GT3 route or was that what you bought instead?

I was thinking about a CSL but the RS4 is such a beast!

Saying that I have to shift the 996 TT first before I buy anythg!

I doubt you've missed the baot, there's bound to be a few floating around without owners.

Well, I'm getting out of the CSL and into an RS4, purely because I just haven't got any use out of the CSL since I bought it. It came down to practicality really, I can use it for family outings and long journeys, but that's not what it's there for. Whereas an RS4 is a proper family car so it will get used a hell of a lot more.

Not sure whether the noise will be as good as the CSL though :D

If you need a CSL, PM me

You might get one if your quick. Just been on the phone to my dealer to check the progress on my order and he said there are 7 or 8 unsold cars from the UK allocation for 2006.

If you read the dilemma post it tells the story of my late order. Get it there soon otherwise I think they'll be a long wait.

It will take a few days for the sales office to confirm the order -- they will check the order make sure there are no errors and that it's a bonafide order = they will then give the dealership confirmation of order, then a few weeks later they will be given the build week of your car -- then a few weeks after that --- you'll be driving your RS4!!

I have a CSL too (a black one like Dave's) and have to say it is absolutely brilliant. So long as you have another car for dogs, shopping (the front bumper is brittle as I have already found to my £2500 cost). Which is also why its only done 4000 miles in 2 years and I too have bitten the bullet and will be ordering a 4 Avant the minute they will take my deposit.

Sold my Silver Grey CSL during the summer last year, it was the one that was featured in Total BMW showing all the carbon bits and the AP Brakes front and back. I bought it from new but in 18 months I only did 6,000 miles in it as it was so inpractical for family use that I always used my 4.8is X5. I must say it was the best fun car I've ever had including having owned an M5, 4.6is/4.8is X5 and M3s. The only thing I found with the CSL was that it always needed to go back to the dealer for lots of niggly things that kept going wrong, ie clutch/flywheel. After the summer most will need extended warranties which is a must for a CSL but at £1100/£1200 a year I'd think twice if you're not going to use it that much.

Ive got £1500 deposit on my Avant for delivery in Sept/Oct and hope that my two boys both approaching six foot will be able to squeeze in the back. Can't understand Gord why your dealer hasn't taken your deposit for one yet.

Who else has an Avant on order with a £1500 deposit down and what colour are you going for? Misano Red for me, I think, or maybe Daytona Grey, not sure yet.

Rear leg room not good in the old A4/RS4 B5 avant jezzer so worth checking out current model to avoid disappointment. You will probably find the 6 a better fit for the boys IMO.

think about resale value here one of these coloours is more niche than the other

One deposit down here (october last year) for Avant. No spec request or delivery dates yet, but it mine will be any colour, so long as it's black... If I go ahead with the order of course, but that's another story! (is there a PLUS coming?) Sutters, I would be surprised if you can't get one, you after a saloon?
