155 mph limit -- what limit

We had an RS4 in today for our training, one of the most interesting facts I learned was that the 155mph speed limiter only works in 6th -- so as long as you stay in 5th you can exceed 155mph!!
Also when you activate the sport mode using the button on the wheel -- it only pumps up the drivers seat -- your poor old passenger will need to alter it themselves to suit!!
But never having seen a B7 RS4 in the metal before - all I can say is WOW - especially the noise

Will do -- we can't reg it till 1st March. But they will be running r/t's after that -- accompanied only unfortunately.
Why do sales staff do that ???
although if you speak to one of ours now for more than a passing conversation they have to record it on our contact system which is monitered by the sales manager and DP -- so should stop that from happening!

So what speed will the RS4 actually get up to?

We don't know exactly - just the fact confirmed that limiter only operates in sixth gear.
A lot of Audi's that are meant to be limited to 155 exceed that speed, I'm told there is a 15% allowance on the 155 gentlemans agreement - so theoreticaly it would mean a top speed of 178mph
I've been in a B5 S4 at Millbrook on the bowl @ 165mph, so allowing for the banking and the fact your always cornering to some extent that should make 170 -- and the B7 RS4 obviously has loads more power.

The pictures look great!!
With regards to the limiter, I guess the likes of QST or AMD will probably already have the kit to remove it anyway. Hopefully, it won't be detectable by Audi........

Abt have just raised the electronic limiter to 282km/h.
Also if the limiter only operates in the 6th gear what are Abt actually doing? selling a product which just removes the limiting code for the 6th gear?
so how can you actually get past the limiter? keep in 5th and pass the 155mph mark then drop it into 6th.....???
All pretty confusing....

Right after an extensive search ive found german based clips of the RS4. the v-max limiter on standard production RS4`s is 270-275km/h.
Thats between 168 - 171mph!
Not too bad in my opinion.....
Also if the car had no limiter somebody told me it could well head near the 200mph barrier!
