Ooooo!!! I just can't decide which colour to go for!!

Post by Gekko » Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:36 am

My brother-in-law and I placed our deposits last week and the dealer wants to sort out spec-list. Delivery should be early June. Dealer, amongst others, is saying to go for Phantom Black... "safe colour, looks great with chrome mirrors, can't go wrong for resale". My bro-in-law has gone for Sprint Blue as it looks great in the brochure... dealer says it doesn't look as stunning in real life in his opinion. I just watched the Top Gear footage on Google last night and the Misano Red looked amazing..... but it was thraping around a mountain pass with a chopper camera shooting the action... not sure whether it achieves the same impact when stuck in traffic or sat on the drive.

I think Dark Blue, Grey & Silver are all quite dull myself.

So any advice/preferences on the Misano Red or Phantom Black????

Go for the red!!

As i feel with black cars you can not see the lines and bulges as well.

I've had black cars before, and they look dirty as soon as you pull off the drive !!!!

I can't decide between Phantom black or Misano Red. I prefer the red but out of the Avants I have seen black seems to suit the shape of the car far better. Heart says red, head says black.

Avus & Daytona are still nice colours - even though they have been around for years....

I must admit, red looks great on the Sportback and RS4/6 Avants. It's likely I'll be only keeping the car for 8-12 months so I want to maximise chances of selling it on.... Red looks daring but would most people go for black when it's sitting there on the forecourt?

@ Gekko yeh mate its like refurbing a house to sell on you have to keep your target market in mind to maximise private resale value...You only plan on keeping it a short time so desirability wil not decline. If you plan on trading it in to Audi dealer does colour really matter tho?

David7m right about black and dirt.

Silver and grey may seem dull to you but are generally desirable resale colours, and I think suit the understated poise and presence of top end audis.

Black, although I don't want there to be too many on the road, so go for red or sprint

Actually I like mugello too.

Easy, Noggy blue. The yellow one at our Christmas get together looked very good though :?

Whatever you choose, it will be a cracking car.

Right, taking note of everyone's helpful comments, I've decided to go for a "blending in" and "sober" colour.... it must contrast well with the chrome mirrors. So either I'm gonna go for black or grey. Thanks folks!!

I quite fancy a dark colour with black optics, but I think the black front grille surround looks odd.

Anyone know if black mirrors are possible. I have seen some B5 with body-coloured mirrors.

Keeping it under-stated may also reduce the chance of it getting robbed.

Daytona grey with black optics, black mirrors and a set of those titanium grey alloys.........
