Any advice from wheeler dealers much appreciated.

My situation is this: My 38k mile B5 RS4 is in prime order ready for sale after cam belt service, inspection and all new discs pads and calipers. It is however tucked away in the garage and is not being used, I've covered about a thousand miles in the last 6 months.

I'm waiting for my B7 Avant whenever that may be, so am looking for some opinions on when and how to sell my car. Obviously I could just chop it in to the dealers when I collect the new one as a P/X, but then they have me over a barrel somewhat. Could I ask them to make me an offer NOW based on doing an agreed mileage between now and delivery of the new car? Then, if they take the p*ss, I can threaten to take my deposit elsewhere? Selling privately seems the obvious way to go, but I've been dissapointed with how long they take to sell! (RS-Steve's misano car seems a great buy at £27k!)

The worst scenario is to be left with two cars on my hands.

Always a good question, but as they are not going to be discounting B7's, it will be the only lever on a deal. Fortunately I will be able to have both, but values do appear to stuck at a certain level, and I expect will remain arond that figure for a while.

I thought mine was a better bargain at 22k !

Actually probably safe to say that all of them sold on here are likely to be good buys!

RS mats are part of the standard spec according to the posh book we got at Donnington......... although the supercharged engine is too

£355 extra according to my brochure(s) (anyone want to swap?!) ... Still confused as to why a dealer and Audi UK have no knowledge of what is clearly not an inexpensive Audi product for a flagship car? Where did this thing come from?!

Nah Carpet mats come standard.
If you want the exclusive sets, there are two to choose from:
RS4 emblem ones for: 355.00
Floor Mats with PIPING from Exclusive range: 315.00

Page 8, top right of brochure (black paperback A4 one) clearly states: Front & Rear tailored Floor mats.
So they better be standard!!

Yeah, they are definitely standard, but as said above, if you want something to spend an extra £355 on - they'll do you an ultra nice set with 'RS4' logo's on it.

When I ordered mine I didn't realise it came with mats, so I made the dealer throw in the £355 one's for free! It'll be interesting to see what £355 floor mats look like.

I was refering to the RS4 ones, which I think should be included....and I wouldn't even contemplate having to pay for a piece of standard grey carpet...

So...the cars are coming. What deals have been struck?

Anyone got a discount? freebies?

I am also presuming to get a car for the w/e to test drive, no rush, but I will not accept 20mins in a traffic jam as a test drive.

Why should you expect the dealer to give you a car for the W/E, you will thrash it for several hundred miles, possibly shunt it, end up with an insurance fiasco. Why, they have people stnding in line for every car they can get and want to maintain a sensible resale value on their demos. Don't get me wrong in an ideal world anyone wready to spend £50K plus on a car should have the chance to properly evaluate it before comitting, but then agian most people who spend £50K on a new car will end up with somthing worth £15K after 3 yrs, you take your pick.

They seem to have people already prepard to pay full list for their ex-demo cars so they do not care.

Do you honestly think a demo car will just sit in the workshop over the w/e keeping dry? One of the directors will have it or it will be cycled through the sales team as some kind of bonus. It will be ragged much harder than by me.

Then once they've written off the VAT on it and no doubt a good % of the value against tax, it will be sold for list as a very healthy profit.

bobjebb, does the dealer have a likely buyer for your car ?
When I traded in my S3 they agreed a price mid Dec against a new one due delivery mid/late March providing I hadn't done more than x extra miles in it.
Early Feb they had a buyer for myS3 ,gave me a slightly better price, so it went . I was happy, they made a quick £2k+ and didn't even advertise it.
I ended up driving my old 80 Sport for a month !
I was happy with the deal I got including just under 10% off the new car and I'd consider a similar deal again if necessary.

The car has been sold (to a new member) and yes indeed the fence has been jumped. Collect my RS6+ on Monday. Perhaps I'm too old for all this changing gear nonsense.

Still have my RS4 on order but may well cancel now, it's crazy to keep swapping cars like this every six months. Or I might just get them to keep my deposit against something else for 2-3 years or so. No doubt be pestering you all for advice on that nearer the time.
