Hi

Some tunners from Germany are saying that Audi will launch a RS 4 plus model, using turbos with the V8. Could this be true?

We would have a car around 540 Hps.

Best Wishes

Very unlikley in my opinion.. yes, you might get some after market kit, but i can't see Audi GmbH doing this.

That makes absolute Audi sense. Make a car that no RS4 owner wants. Charge a lot of money which ex-M3 owners will pay, then produce a car that RS4 owners do want and charge an extra £5000 (or more) for it. :x

It'll never happen.. The RS4 will be less powerfull than the upcomming RS6 (which is to be in the region of 500bhp), and then of course you have the Le Mans quattro which wil probably have a V10. Audi wouldn't want to steal any of that's thunder.

Plus Audi say they are done with turbo's.. it's a crude way of adding power and they want to get away from that type of power delviery.. ie) lag

I can see Audi coming out with an RS4+ but I don't think it'll have turbos.

To be honest, I think they've shot themselves in the foot with the RS6+....they must have pissed off a lot of RS6 owners when they come up with a model that then tops the top of the range...who is going to plump up cash for a 'normal' RS4 when there might be an RS4+ around the corner ??

Now, if they'd announced an 'RS4 clubsport' model from the offset, that had the same engine and basic configuration, but less gadgets/etc they could have had the sales from normal buyers and the hardcore track fiends...

Absolutely agree with all this - I am thinking of cancelling my order and just wait to see how the whole thing pans out.

Well

So far I haven´t seen any Avant model, so the question remains... Maybe the turbos will stay, have a look at MB with their range, and also, BMW will have a small model with a turbo. (remenber the 2002 car?)
The industry is aiming at more profit per vehicle, so it makes sense to put a few snails, and sell it as a RS 4 plus. As about lag, it all depends on fine tunning and how much pressure u put it on...

Just my two cents.

Hello!

I have infos from very reliable source that the upcomming RS6 will have 5.2l engine from Gallardo and biturbo as well and we can expect over 550 hp for sure, but probably very close to 600 hp. Don't ask me how I know that, I just do.

So the rumors about RS4+ with 500hp just might be true...

Why would Audi call it "Plus"? It would seem like an understatement if they added so much more turbo power. Can't think of a better name right now, but Plus is rather unimaginative. I expect that if there is going to be an upgraded RS4, it is more likely to have 450bhp and further suspension tweaks (possibly lighter weight, like the TT Sport - don't laugh).
