Anyone else hearing about the Avant delays?
I'm hearing July 06 for Avant deliveries in the UK?
Can anyone confirm that?
Might have to go with saloon instead?

seeing as they havent launched this yet, its unlikely your going to see it before late 06, i still have not seen any press release on conformation that it will happen at all.
cheers

Last I heard was 'other variants' will follow towards the end of this year.
I was told a while ago that 'anticipated' delivery of my Avant would be December but I have heard nothing since.......

Yep.. right.. no release yet, although word on the ground is that it will happen.. but not as quickly as thought..
there is even word that GmbH are going with the new S6, before the RS avant is launched.. apparantly they have a very full schedule... what with R9 going on as well!

This is what i am hearing from my friends on rs6.com:
Without Audi telling anyone, I notice that the release date for both Sedan and Avant models has now slipped. The first Sedan models will now arrive in the UK in November instead of September, but worst news is that Avants won't start to appear in the UK until June 2006 instead of January/ February. This is rediculous for two reasons.
1. S6 Will now probably arrive about the same time as the RS4 Avant or just after it. But if the S6 has the much rumoured new V-10, I can see quite a lot of buyers going for this instead.
2. The new B8 A4 model will make its first appearance as an A4 coupe at the 2006 Frankfurt autoshow. in other words, the B7 chassis is about a year away from being redundant. (This week's Autocar has an interesting article on the new PL47 chassis, confirming posts on this website about the engine being mounted behind the front axle.) This will almost immediately make the RS4 obsolete because the B8 chassis will be such a quantum leap forward.
It's been mentioned elsewhere that the development cycle of Audi's RS models is consistently late in the model cycle. Once again this is happening. It simply gives them a pathetically short shelf-life.

I'd watch those RS residuals too if the B7 gets superseded by a better platform and the S6 with a V10 are not too far off the horizon

Thought the V10 was for the RS6, with the 4.2FSi going into the S6.
Another year before an Avant is unacceptable.....M5 estate will be out by then.

All well put. I will replace my B6 S4 Avants with a new shape S6 Avant and/or B8 S4 Avant. No B7 RS4 Avant for me. They dropped the ball big time by not bringing the Avant out at the start.

Off topic slightly, but how do people think a stage III RS4 would get on against an M5? One picked on me yesterday, but had to decline as the wife was with me. (why does that ALWAYS happen?) And is the M5 estate a definate? I know we're all biased but the B6 RS4 seems less desirable and a sure way to haemorrhage money in depreciation with this latest news...

B8 already? I'm starting to feel like my B5 is a classic car!
Another thing to consider is if the rumour about BMW's 3.0 litre turbo plans are true...

I saw a brand new (is it B7) A4 Avant yesterday, it was a 3.0TDI Quattro with the now standard S-Line trimmings - looked every part like an RS4 with the mesh grille and bling alloys. With the RS4 looking 90% identical it is proving hard to wait another year for 60bhp more than the S4.
As for the M5, there is nothing defo about the estate - these have been built before but not sold in the UK.
Also worth noting is BMW statement to only bring in 500 M5s per year to maintain desireability/demand/residuals/waiting lists etc.
