Is a B7 S4 a better buy than a B7 RS4?

Post by RS4ever » Thu Apr 14, 2005 5:40 pm

Ok, it sounds crazy, but I was thinking about it last night. If the B7 RS4 is not limited production, then it won't be unique. It looks so similar to an S4 and to be honest there's not a lot of difference in the performance. An S4 will be 15K cheaper.

So what do you think?

or do I just keep my beloved B5 RS4 ;)

Keep the B5

Depends on why your looking to change.
If you want a newer car then you'll change anyway.
If your just after more performance I wouldn't bother to change for a new one, the price difference for the new RS4 over a B5 is not worth it imo.

If I had a B5 RS4, I wouldn't be sooo fast to jump on a B7 RS4.

I own a B6 S4(same as B7) and I'll be upgrading to the B7 RS4 immediately.
But here in the States, we'll only have about 1250 of them in the US.
So, it will be more rare.

Also, the B7 RS4 will far outperform an S4.

It won't be much of a difference from your B5 RS, especially, if it's tuned at all.

I'd stay with a B5 RS if I was able to have one.

Either way, they're gorgeous cars.

I'd keep the B5.

When the B5 RS4 came out it was beyond my budget, and I had no need for a big 4/5 door car.

Now, I do have a need for a 4/5 door car and my budget is bigger so B7 RS4 it is.

If I owned a previous RS4, then I doubt I would change.......

Followed a new A4 avant today, I was surprised how small it actually was.

I was reading evo last night and horrified to see that an s4 avant had lost 18k in a year or so.It was a bit up on miles for its age but was a 53 plate with a trade in value of 22 or 24k i cant quite remember pants either way,id rather take on an m3 depreciation wise thats bad.

Yeah I read that. What rubbish. The cheapest 03 car is £30K with 16K miles or 23K miles on the Audi used car site. The cheapest on Autotrader was a left hooker at £27.5K. Given a new cost of between £37-£38 say £40K with a couple of extras that's only a 10K depreciation. So are the stealerships making another 8K? I think not.

You think? If the B7 S4 looked like the B7 RS4 there'd be one sitting in my drive right now!
