New RS4; A good buy or Not?
New RS4; A good buy or Not?
I am on the verge of placing my deposit for a saloon in the sprint blue but the stories I am hearing is that not many orders have been placed! Now I dont want to go ahead and buy if this cars going to be a flop as the residual will be bad as well, whats all your opinions is this car going to be a good buy? Its surely going to be awsome to drive with the usual Audi prefect interior and build quality etc.. Just not 100% convinced as yet, convince me!
Many thanks
Many thanks

Personally I want to see the lap time for the ring, and compare it to the CSL. If it is not comparable, then it's a hard decision to take the new RS4 over a CSL...

I would not place a deposit without an 'Agreement To Purchase & Sell Contract', so both parties know that you will have no problems pulling out, and they cannot gazzump you, the costs of almosty all the factory supplied accessories are known after all.
Realistically, almost all expensive German cars have awful residuals, apart from Porsche 911s and a very few very limited production cars. The new RS4 is going to be produced in as great a volume as possible, for sale all over the world. Draw your own conclusions as to what effect this will have on residuals. As far as build quality and interior goes, don't confuse modern Audis with the old RS4 and S4, the new ones are MUCH cheaper. As far as I can tell the best cars Audi currently builds are the A8 and the Gallardo.
Now that a crazy German petrolhead runs Aston Martin, perhaps all Brits should reconsider whether its time to come back from the dark side and support a really super car company with more tradion, style and heritage than an Autobahn full of boring black ueberwagen. It looks good, it drives good and I bet the residuals will hold up.

Do you mean to say that the build quality and finish of the new cars is not as good?Nordschleife wrote:...As far as build quality and interior goes, don't confuse modern Audis with the old RS4 and S4, the new ones are MUCH cheaper. A fairly cursory comparison of a current S4 with an an older model car will show you where the corners have been cut. Look out for things like cheaper feel plastics, thinner seat cushions, more ugly LED displays instead of nice analogue dials/clocks, fewer instruments, door pockets too small for road atlases, cheap carpet, ....... are the shut lines as tight? I know that there has been serious pressure placed on suppliers to trip prices and that this has not been without sacrificing product quality in all cases.

Must admit, I was really disapointed to see little change to the old symphony/concert type stereo unit sitting in the middle of the console still........
Too much is bad.
Plenty is better.

Thats because you will be listening to the growl of a V8 not AC/DC
I rearly have the streo on in the quattros, just listen to the exhaust.

Not a good buy, because:

I now understand that Bang and Olfsen are producing a hi-fi system for the A8 and it might be available in other models!TarmacTerrorist wrote:Must admit, I was really disapointed to see little change to the old symphony/concert type stereo unit sitting in the middle of the console still........

ps Conti were you bin hiding?Audi Joins Forces With Bang & Olufsen In Frankfurt
Danish audio-visual pioneer brings concert hall acoustics to the A8 luxury saloon
An Audi A8 equipped with an exceptional new Bang & Olufsen audio system will be one of the big noises at Frankfurt. The state-of-the-art sound system will be given its first public airplay in the aluminium-bodied 6.0-litre A8 W12 on the Audi stand, and will become available as an optional extra for A8 models in the UK later this year.
Developed exclusively for the A8, the system is expected to set new standards for sophistication and sound quality even in the luxury segment. It is tailored to the actual acoustic characteristics of the car interior, such as internal space, shape and materials used, and is also able to take into account factors including driving speed and the corresponding wind resistance and friction between tarmac and tyre.
Perfect sound quality is achieved in the A8 through the use of a total of fourteen active high-end loudspeakers, B&O Acoustic Lens Technology and more than 1,000 Watts of amplifier power.
Each of the active speakers has its own amplifier and is housed within its own anodised aluminium loudspeaker cabinet designed specifically for the A8, allowing each speaker to be controlled irrespective of where it is mounted and effectively eliminating unwanted resonance.
