Importing the new RS4?

Anyone considering this option?
From past experience of importing cars i would not have a problem going down this road.
I saved about 18k when i bought an S3 and a TT roadster and had no problems when i came to sell them on,in fact i made a £500 profit on the S3 after running it for 18 months.
Fair enough you will have to knock the price down slightly in comparison to a UK supplied car,but if you are saving a whack when you buy the car it works out about the same if you buy it through an Audi dealer.
Plus there is the added benefit of upsetting the local dealer when you turn up to have the car serviced etc

ps the TTR was for the girlfriend......and it was <beep>!!

£18K !!!
I only saved £5k on my TT 3.5 years ago. If you save that sort of money then I'll order two now!

Well
Here in Brazil if you buy and S4, which is aroung 55K U$, you can get it here for U$100K. If you go to an Audi Dealer, the best price would be U$125K. This 25K is the importer profit and the changes on currency.
So I guess for us down here the only problem would be the 3 months waiting.
Best Wishes

They way it is going you would be better off importing one from the US as the exchange rate is quite nice in that direction at the moment !

think he must have meant 1800. £18k saving would put the car at about £8k new or something, which is impossible

I saved a total of 18k when i imported an S3 and a TTR at the same time, the cars were imported from Finland which at the time had the lowest pre-tax car prices in Europe.
The amount charged for the options in the UK at that time was outrageous and because of the initial huge savings on the basic car i made further large savings by ticking just about every option box you could at the time for these cars.
I also imported a Toyota Landcruiser from the same country 18 months later and saved around 8k on it!
Not sure what the score is with importing at this point in time but if you are looking at shelling out 50k for the next RS4 you should look at all options open to you.
I sold on both cars while the market was still strong, nowadays the TT market has colapsed while you can pick up S3,s for buttons. You just have to look at these cars on Autotrader to confirm this

ps it would also appear the arse has fallen out of the M3 market as well!
