Letter to Audi?!

Post by Conti » Sat Jan 10, 2004 5:08 pm

Hi mates,
I read about the letter to Audi in the other forum...
With a letter to Audi we have influence on the new RS4.
If there are over 400 RS4 owners (and 400 potential new customers ) they have to respect our meaning.
Otherwise they can hardly sell their cars!

What do you think about it?
I mean it's worth a try!

Cheers

ok, let's do it. Something along the lines of

- Audi we love the RS4, beautiful car
- we are very excited that you are planning on improving it even more
- some points very dear to our heart would be
1. bi-turbo because...
2. great brakes because ...
3. great looks because...
4. limited series because...
...

We hope that this input from the field, from your most enthusiastic customers can find it's way into your thinking and anticipate with joy the upcoming announcements!!

Any body around on the forum who is good in writing state of the art letters?
Any other input we would want to give them?

hope the above outline gives this process a kick-start.

Dont forget to write to Quattro GmbH and not Audi!

The RS production is overseen by the Quattro devision.

Facts always are a good idea for letters like these - like the fact we have 800 members, and of or emmebership pool there are X number RS4 drivers and X number of S4 drivers (anyone know these stats by the way?).

The benefits of turbocharging are also worth mentioning - for example why is a set of turbochargers so important to us. (something along the lines of the fact that in terms of heritage Audi RS cars have always had turbochargers which are synonymous with the brand?).

Finally regarding exclusivity we need to spell out why limiting the numbers and a bespoke body is necessary - even BMW realised this when the developed the M3 even though it was mass prooduced.

Do we know what stage of design the car is at ? and which (if any) of the areas we want to influence have been decided on already ?

I don't think we should tailor our letter to the decisions they have already taken as we might be wrong, just with all the rest of our somewhat-founded-but-sometimes-not "guesses" at what Quattro is doing. Let's think about the 4 key themes (maybe the 4 outlined above...) and then provide the meat for it. We might have a 5th "theme" just listing all the goodies we like about the RS4 without detailed "because...." explanations.

Examples could be:
We'd also liek to have
- great sound
- full interior spec (recaro seats, SatNav, etc.)
- option for bucket seats
- etc.

Can someone find the thread where we already listed all these "wishes"?

Yes, but there is no progress with this letter at the moment.

I'm not sure a letter would properly reflect the feeling that we have here. I'm pretty sure that Audi (Hi ) have a read of the forum. Maybe we should possibly just point them in the direction of a couple of threads.

Just a thought. Isn't it, wasn't it. Ohhh, suits you.
