Hi all. Just seen a couple of posts on FB about a recall on the B7. Something to do with the passenger air bag. Just went onto the check MOT web site and it’s come up for my car. Will be calling my local Audi dealer in the morning

Yeah I called Audi last week and they said they are doing another big round of them, hence the bulk of people noticing at the moment. Apparently they did a load a few years back but obviously doing another big batch now. I was quite surprised how a car that is now almost 20 years old is still getting new recalls, is that normal?!

Either way, just gotta hope the incompetant dealers don't mess it up!!

yeah, it's under AUDI Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) / Airbag Safety Recall: 69R7

in uk, you can go to:

https://www.audi.co.uk/uk/web/en/assist ... ecall.html

punch in your VIN / Chassis Number to check whether your vehicle is affected (although I believe all B7 RS4's are)

The issue, as Audi describes it:
The passenger frontal airbag may explode in a crash with airbag deployment. Sharp metal fragments can hit people and cause serious injury or death.

Just spoke to my local Audi dealer regarding the recall...
Quite shocked when she said they need the car for 2 days as thats how long they are taking apparently!!
To top it off, they'd charge me for a loan car - £20 but thats not the point.
I'll get back to them maybe or try another dealer.
Anybody else gone through the process yet?

That's interesting..
Mine is due a service later this month and I just rang to get the recall done too.
They said they will get both done within the day.

They said they need mine for the day but I said I wanted the loan car for free which they agreed to.
2 days seems excessive and I don't think you should be out of pocket for a loan car when they are re-calling the car quite frankly.

The dealer I phoned suggested two days. First day to take the airbag out & see if it needs changing. If it does then they'd order the new one & fit the second day.

I'd have thought they should order it in & do it in one day/an hour!?

My recall work took a day. I still need to collect, so 2 days in total for me.

They sent me a nice video of my 'free' health check findings. It came with a list of recommended repairs:

Rear Brake Hoses £753.60 INC. VAT
Loose heat exhaust shields £211.80 INC. VAT
Tyre repair sealant out of date £91.56 INC. VAT
£1,059.96

Mental

Honestly, I thought they would find more 'urgent' items.

It also had nice 'add to basket' buttons and very very small 'No thanks' buttons. So much 'sell' doing on it's unreal.

Hopefully, they've managed to get the airbag replaced without breaking anything.

Anyone else have it done and did it take the full day orore?
I'm concerned that my dealer may have underestimated the time and there'll leave me with no car ...

I mean the work probably took an hour but they have a whole process so needed the day.

Basically time to find things to charge for, I would imagine.

I’ll be dropping my car off at 0900 today and the 1st thing I’m going to say is that if you can’t compete the work in one day either give me a loan car or rebook. As they did say at booking it’s not even a full day job. Will let you all know. PS. Il. Be looking forward to the health check video too

Mine goes in today too. The online book-in is basically a menu for trying to extract cash, and I've had a phone call and email about being invited to a VIP event despite specifying no marketing guff. Given that they've lied to me before (and then repeatedly ignored me when I wouldn't leave the matter), it's a bit late to decide I'm a VIP...

Hate the thought of going in - will be very pleased when this is over.
