Unlocking RS4

Post by BDH@RS4 » Fri Dec 08, 2023 6:31 pm

Hello! I tried to open the boot to disconnect the trickle charger to find that the key fob wasn’t working. Oh well…. I opened the boot with the key and the alarm went off! I have changed the battery in the fob but it still isn’t working. I thought I needed to reset the key fob and it seems I have to put the key into the ignition. Unfortunately I can’t open the drivers door with the key as it only goes into the lock about 1cm. I guess the alarm has triggered some sort of dead lock in the drivers door??
Any ideas how to get into my car???
Thanks

Any ideas from anyone? I disconnected the battery over night and reconnected this morning. Alarm is still active and drivers door is still locked - can’t insert key to open the door.

WD40 and lots of wiggling the key and it finally went into the lock barrel. Happy days! 😊

Glad to hear it - did this neutralise the alarm? I take it from the smiley that it did!

I don't think my door lock had ever been used, I had a flat bettery once and tried WD40 for a couple of weeks, to no avail, then tried PB Blaster, free lock within 10 seconds
