RS4 B7 REVERSE CAMERA

Post by Stu3y » Sat Mar 25, 2023 9:30 pm

Hi Guys,

I am now a new owner of my first RS4 B7.

I am looking to fit a reverse camera to it, using a kit which replaces the boot handle unit.

I have fitted reverse cams before to Vag cars however, I have spent hours searching the Internet and various forums for instructions on this particular car but have come up blank

Just wanting to know if anyone has a guide or has done one of the cheap cameras on thier own B7.

Thanks in advance

Stuart

See my thread in Readers Rides. I fitted a reverse camera. Did a write up on that and the head unit.

Apologies in advance to everyone. I am not great with electrics and new to the car also.

I can normally get things done easily enough once I have the instructions.

So I was expecting that this would be video cable run through the car to the head unit and then source power to the camera and trigger wire.

Either from headunit wires or reverse light wires.

Unless they are hidden I can't find any Video cables from the head unit.

Thankfully the owner gave me the original Bix to the head unit. Just dug it out and found this.ImageImage

Got the camera in now. Used an ebay camera but actually quite pleased.

Looks pretty oem, just need to adjust the colour on head unit. And set up my lines.

Not bad for £54.ImageImageImage

I have a pioneer avh-z9200 DAB.

Anyone know if its possible to get it to display the lines for larking sensors.

It has the logo as part of the camera image but doesn't do anything.

Would be nice to know which sensor gas something closest to it.

Lines are a function of the camera usually. Normally IIRC there is a wire you cut to disable the lines. Check your camera instructions.

Mine has a little white loop wire, but not sure if that is to reverse the image to use as a front camera. My head unit has lines anyway, that I can turn on and off and adjust to suit the car/camera.
