DRL bulbs recommendation

Post by Jezza1644 » Mon Jul 25, 2022 4:54 pm

HI,

After about 6 years the Passenger side DRL/sidelight LED bulb I got from Trups has failed, but the Drivers side was still working. I decided to remove them both and the auto electrician who removed them said I was lucky they hadn't caught fire as the black plastic outer casing showed signs of cracking and bucking from the heat. Can anyone recommend these DRLs I saw on Ebay? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262745276731 ... name=11051 I contacted the seller (We sell HIDs) and they were adamant they wouldn't fail/overheat or show up any errors. But I'm still a bit skeptical after what happened previously.

Cheers :beerchug:

B7s are a bit awkward tbh.
I went for some standard LEDs and housed the resistors outside of the light housings.

Thanks Mike. Could you house them outside the housings with the set on Ebay as they are, or would you have to improvise and lengthen the wires for example?
Cheers.

Here's what I've done... just need to clip into the existing circuits....
Oh, and got some extension cables so as not to mess with the OEM wires

Ordered some LED DRL for my T5.1 off eBay, despite the description telling they were error free, I got an error. I went to Halfords and got a set from there and they work fine with no errors. Also upgraded main headlights with Philips White Vision. Looks good now and no more yellow dull lights.

I went for these in the end https://www.hids-direct.co.uk/mtec-382- ... pack-of-2/ Still give off a white/blue light and look better than I thought they would. The only possible downside that some people may not like is that they have a blue casing, but you soon forget about it and only notice it when the car's parked up.
