This ain't going to help you but MRC are overrated and way too expensive there's better specialists out there than MRC, they used to be good made their name and now rip people off, you ain't the first and won't be the last I know of many people taking cars there and then coming out with new faults
who would you suggest as a replacement for MRC always nice to know other places to go?

Cylinder 4 issues, You realise Mrc lift the knock threshold limits when tuned?...... its a pet hate of mine which i found when i read my ecu's.

NEVER run anything other then 99ron

But i agree with the post about them, made their name and now using the groups followings into a false security and ripping off.

I thought increasing the knock threshold was a good thing? I don't think they remove them (some tuners do!). The thinking behind this is to allow for the occasional use of lower quality fuel.

In response to the OPs £10k bill, this is pretty typical of a car of this age which may not of been maintained very well over it's lifetime. It doesn't take much to get to those levels if it needs DRC, oil cooler, brakes, carbon clean, full service and a stage 2 remap.

A lot of people sell cars when they know a big bill is coming up. The OP may of though he got a good deal but it is always a good idea to get a specialist to check it over before purchasing.

Pretty sure MRC publish their hourly rate so you can compare with Audi or other specialists before deciding where to take it. The days of £40/hr rates are long gone for specialist cars.

Just my 2p's worth.

The B7 RS4 is a very expensive car to maintain at its best compared to many other performance cars. It's a 194 MPH super car that deservers the best of everything.
I raced Lamborgini's, ran around the Nurburgring, went skiing with may familia many times, wound the window down in tunnels and gave it 7.5k revs in 3rd, maxed it out on the autobahn and hooned mine whenever I could.
What a car the B7 RS4 is, not cheap but worth it. :rocker:
RS4 B7, Mugello Blue, K&W V3 & HR ARBs, set up by Centre Gravity, Milltek Valved Non Res & cat bypass pipes, BMC air filter, braided hoses, DOT 5.1, Terraclean, MRC Full Carbon Clean, MRC remap 448PS 477NM, 20" S7 alloys with 4mm spacers & Hawke spigots 66.6 > 57.1, AP Racing front discs. Sold Sept 2019. Now rocking an F80 M3
