Headlight Info - burnt projector?

After a bit of info.

I'm going to freshen up my headlights at some point this year with new lenses. The originals look like they need polishing on the inside so I'm thinking if they have to be split I might as well change them.

I'll change the bulbs too while the headlights are off but the main question is do the projectors themselves burn out over time where the reflective part becomes less - reflective? I have experienced this before with VAG xenons.

If so, is anyone aware of any direct replacements? I know Trups offers a kit but ideally I'd just like a direct replacement to keep the same bulb fitment etc etc.
