MRC stage 2 advice
Hopefully booking in for a stage 2 MRC soon, as I’ve had a deflap and decoke.
Is it wise to get some exhaust work done before to take full advantage? Hear people gutting the precats and adding a Milltek etc.
What are peoples opinions/experiences? Or just to go for it and leave the exhaust stock.

I had stage 2 and nothing else, and have been very pleased. The greater power at the top end is not the main gain. The increased torque (which is a bigger percentage gain than the increased power) is more useful, and the full throttle in all gears makes the biggest difference in day-to-day driving. I am now thinking about the pre-cats and exhaust, but it's taken a few years to get to this stage. Not sure that this helps, other than to say that you definitely won't regret going to MRC.

Cheers for that, sounds a good option and benefits from it and definitely need it done to map in the deflap. I think I might just go for it now and do the exhaust later on - don’t think the precats or exhaust need to be mapped in do they?

Looking at the website, it seems that the pre-cat might need mapping, in which case it might also need the rolling road doing again. If so, get them done together.
This is what the website says:
Removal, or gutting, of precats from your standard downpipes. The 400 cell precats are removed leaving your 200 cell main cats giving you a lot less restrictive pair of downpipes. Lambda sensors are left in original positions.
*Requires a Stage 2 remap, as the rear lambdas are used to test for precat efficiency and this will fail the test if not coded.

Oh, there is one drawback - the non-sport mode is sluggardly. It will pick up its skirts, but the throttle response is dulled and feels like it wants to resist you. I don't use non-sport mode. Ever.

Seems a shame to leave it lacking in non Sports mode ...

If non-sport just kept the exhaust flaps closed, that would be perfect.

mine had an mrc stage 2 with miltek exhaust when i bought it.
as i live in london i rarely drive it in sports mode tbh, but having driven a few standard cars when i was looking for mine there's definitely a marked difference.

Mine came with Stage 2 and Miltek exhaust when I bought it. Aswell as a carbon clean. Gives out 468 bhp. Mid range it definitely has more get up n go. Tried sports mode from a toll on M6 . Gear changes came up really quick and you do notice the difference. In my daily use I tend not to use S mode but it's a nice to have with that little bit more than stock when you want it.

468 sounds tempting! I got to 434 with the stage 2, and have been wondering what extra might be available from precat/Milltek. Obviously all cars will end up with their own figures though.

just had mine done stage 2 at MRC decoke, flaps removed, inlet ported new coil packs etc miltek catless down pipes 448bhp. just had fitted a miltek non res with flaps much sharper sounds the nuts and pulls better so probably need to get back on the dyno for new bhp figure

That is because MRC soften the non sports mode pedal mapping massively.
I have yet to find any VVT modifications in the map file as well
