2006 Audi RS4, B7, 8E chassis

hi guys

i think i cocked up with my Vagcom, i was trying to see if my headlight washers were enabled, as they do not work,
I went into Cent-Elect, then coding, at this point things did not seem to make any sense,

however, instead of hitting back/return, i hit Do it, i cant remember what the code was before, but it is now 00021
after mopping the blood up from punching myself in the face, i decided to come out of everything and run away,

its probably related as it has not happened before, but i started, the car and it came up with a headlight error,

1 fault found
01539 headlights not adjusted
005 no or incorrect basic setting / adaptation MIL ON
freeze frame
fault status 11100101
fault priority 2
fault frequency 1
reset counter 40
time indication 0

i know, ... i should get myself a vauxhall viva and stick to adjusting points, but i just love this car to bits, and if i can sort this i will give her a full clean and polish as a sorry, any help guys would be greatly appreciated,
thanks in advance

Hi,

The coding on mine is 10021 and dont have any errors.
There is also a log file in the VCDS folder that logs coding changes so you could also look there.
And bear in mind, the headlight washers only operate every 4th squirt of the windscreen washers with the lights on.

looks like the first number in the coding is the variant - avant/saloon/cab:

Thanks Mike
That is starting to make sense now
So 1 is avant, 0 no rain sensor, 0 no trailer, 2 bi xenon lights, 1, country
Should there be an adaptive headlight select

have you tried clearing the code to see if it comes back.
if it does, Module 55 is headlight aim control - details on how to adjust the headlights is here -

Thanks Mike, I mean thanks lot...
I cleared the fault but it came back, so I went through the headlight aim re set, it said learned,
I went to clear the fault and it had already gone, started the car up and the fault has gone.. Whoopee
There's so much more to these cars than meets the eye,

like changing your headlight bulbs, its a bit like trying to decorate your house through the letterbox.

I have wanted an RS4 for years, now I have one it has exceeded my expectations, wheels need dipping and re coating, tiny bit of rust or paint bubbles in one wheel arch
And that sound is amazing

Thanks, I really appreciate your help, not sure what I would have done,
