Sitting lower at the rear, especially the driver's side.

The rear of the car is sitting lower, most noticeably on my side. No signs of DRC leakage, though I know it can need repressurising. Plan is (probably) to have DRC replaced, possibly later this year.

Is there anything else that could cause this - knackered dampers? Does the car have separate springs too?

Thoughts greatly appreciated - car owned from new so I know the DRC has never spilled its guts in the garage!

Each side will have its own spring, maybe one of them might have cracked or could be basically worn out

Well, in being looked at - apparently there is a levelling sensor there too, so just a case of waiting and seeing...

Be interested to hear the outcome of the investigation. I don’t think there is a levelling sensor though, it’s a purely mechanical/hydraulic system.

Broken spring or worn out rubber spring seat. As others have stated, there is no level sensor on a B7. If it is still on the original 14 year old springs I would replace even if not cracked as they sag with age.

The B7 always looks like it sits lower at the rear on DRC (either SS or SS+) because of the extra tyre to arch centre gap at the front. You need that so the tyre does not catch on the arch if you hit a pothole with lots of lock on.

What garage are looking at it? Any knocks or clunks when driving?

It's a local indy - used them for many years and much prefer them to main dealer. Turns out both rear springs had gone - have asked them to examine the rest of the suspension to make sure this hasn't broken anything else - will get it back today. They always grease the DRC as well - there is some limited corrosion but this keeps it under control.

I thought the suspension was making some noise over sleeping policeman, but might have been imagining it, as you sometimes can do when you think something's amiss.

When you say both rear springs had gone, were they broken or just worn?

Broken, I think. Hence wanting to make sure that hasn't caused damage elsewhere.

Cheers for the info, think I need to check mine out too as I've noticed it is lower at the back than I remember it ever was. I might opt for the H&R springs if they need changing.

Yep, they were broken. Ride is markedly improved now.
