Pioneer headunit

Post by C7 SL » Mon Mar 08, 2021 9:18 pm

Hi

I’m considering installing a Pioneer headunit, specifically this one:

Any thoughts / suggestions of as good or better alternatives for less than £1,000?

Many thanks
Mark

Link isn't working, what unit are you looking at?

I recently installed a Pioneer DMH-Z5350BT into my RS4 which would be well under 1000 pounds (I am from Australia).

Only one regret I have is that given we have no steering wheel controls, I wish I had of got a head unit that has either a volume dial or at least physical buttons. There is just no tactile feel at all and have to take eyes off the road to adjust volume.

In my Toyota Sera I have the SPH-DA230DAB and I'm very pleased with it. It receives DAB well, FM for rural areas and connects to my phone reliably. I wish the display was a little more OEM, and I'd prefer a rotary volume control rather than actual buttons - but I'd rather physical buttons over a touch screen volume control.

The best bit is that with an optional microphone you can do time alignment and that delays the sound from various speakers by different amounts so they all end up arriving at the drivers ears at the same time - the closest speaker to driver has longest delay. I'm no audiophile but I could definately appreciate the difference after borrowing the kit from my friend, who is really into his music.
