New noise, any ideas what it could be?

Hi,

Have just noticed a ‘wirring’ noise that has appeared over last couple of drives, would describe it as:

- High pitch sound, like a ‘wirr’ you’d get from something spinning
- Sounds like it is coming from behind the drivers seat
- increases in pitch and volume with engine RPM, is quiet below 1500RPM but gets louder with increasing pitch after that
- occurs if the car is in neutral and stationery with clutch depressed, or if the car is in gear and accelerating

Any ideas what it could be? My first though is something clutch/flywheel related? Both are original and car is on 130k.

Good shout. Will try and check the oil cooler and around that area, this happens from when the car is cold though - regardless of engine temp.
