Merry Christmas everyone, hope you've all had a good one.
I'm wondering if I should replace my coilpacks purely based on the age of the car and the fact they've never been changed? I don't have any fault codes for misfires, car runs fine (perhaps a bit stuttery for the first couple of miles from fully cold start but fine otherwise).
Just wondering if these should be replaced as a service item or if it ain't broke, don't fix it?
Also, would there be any benefit in fitting the R8 red coilpacks that Awesome GTi sell, or just stick to standard Bosch ones?

Re: Ignition Coilpacks
If you was going to change I’d probably stick to the standard Bosch coils. As said unless you are experiencing a misfire and you can diagnose it as a faulty coil then I wouldn’t bother.
However if you are still on the original set, and you do have a faulty coil, then I would replace the full set, as they are around £200-£250 for a full set of Bosch coils which is pretty good.

Re: Ignition Coilpacks
Cheers for the info gents. Was just looking on carparts4less this morning and with their sale discount code at the minute I can get full set of Bosch coils for £190 delivered which I thought was pretty good.
Re: Ignition Coilpacks
There was a recall on coil packs some years ago. You should check with your dealer if your car ever had them changed, if not maybe they'll still honour the recall, it's worth a try.
