Error free DRL's

Post by Silverfox42 » Sat Nov 07, 2020 1:23 pm

Hi Folks,

Been searching some old threads for current LED DRL replacements for the standard bulbs, but most links/name manufactures can no longer be found. I replaced my Saloons lights in 2014 but that supplier isn’t around now.

Anyone got a current Error free solution? Is Trups still around?

Thanks

Recently been through this myself.
Very mixed reviews of error free bulbs especially on Audis.
Ended up getting standard DRL LED's and fitting resistors on a bracket behind the left side headlight.
Seem to work ok - I'll just have to keep an eye on the heat generated by the resistors...

Error free for a few months only in my experience, then started flickering & throwing up bulb failure errors. When I pulled them out, there were discoloured with heat. Great looking bulbs when they worked, but not worth my RS4 going up in smoke so I went back to standard DRL bulbs

The ones from EM Tuning? I’ve had mine in nearly 4 years? No issues at all.

I too have had EM Tuning DRL's in for at least 4 years now, and no issues at all, Trups is the man when it comes to modifying any lighting on these cars, as they do seem to be very sensitive when it comes to which type of lights you choose.

I sourced some of Trups DRL replacements from another forum member which worked fine at first, but in the last 3 weeks have been getting intermittent errors from both sides, so swapped back to a bright (blue glass) Xenon bulb which actually works really well, only slightly dimmer than LED's and no errors.

I had a set of Trups DRL and they failed, were all discolored and had heat damage after about 2 years.
I got a replacement set, they worked fine for a few months but started throwing errors again.
No visible heat damage this time, but I keep an eye on them and would advise others to do the same.

So my RS4 is back on the road 3 months now and one of the updated Trups DRL has failed, it was throwing errors for a while but fully gone now.

Interested to hear if anyone has any other solution apart from back to standard?

Why not back to standard? Are there known issues with the standard bulb, hence why people move to LEDs

Sorry not to hijack, just interested.

My DLR bulb has blown and melted itself to the housing. Still need to work out a way of getting it out without taking the bumper off!

Just aesthetics really!
The LED just look much better than the halogen and if there was an error free one it would be great.

After a bit of searching and weighing up the options I ended up ordering a new set from Trups/EM Tuning
They have released a V2 earlier this year and in fairness the customer service was top notch so I'll give them a go and report back.
