Flap delete, carbon clean & how to achieve a louder exhaust note without breaking the budget ?
Re: Flap delete, carbon clean & how to achieve a louder exhaust note without breaking the budget ?
Give AAS Exhausts in Newcastle a call, they can for £55ish send you a set of top hat shaped aluminium replacements, just tap them in and you are good to go.

Coffey555 - whenu say valvues fully open, are you refering to the ones in the backbox...? Ive done that mod, and off to get the centre res deletes done...just wanna check thats it.coffey555 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 11:00 pmJust get the centre res section cut out and replaced with two bits of the straight pipe. X-pipe will give you a slight gain in performance in theory but you will never notice it from behind the wheel.
Had this mod on my car for a few years now, best thing I have ever done to it. Honestly, it sounds wonderful with the valves fully open all the time.
Mikefish tried out loads of exhausts on his RS4 over the years when he had it and this was the setup he finally settled on.

Yes, the valves in the back boxes. It will sound epic with the centre res delete and the roof down!

There are many flaps in the manifold but they are there to improve low down torque. They can be removed to increase BHP and in some cases, to avoid falling out and destroying the engine.

Im not after BHP...prefer Torque...so i guess i leave well alone.
Cheers for the advice...again.

Same here, I like how flexible the engine is and the noise at low rpm in a high gear.
No worries, nice to see a bit of activity on here.

I didn't do it for performance. More preventative. I had heard such stories about bolts coming undone I wanted a failsafe solution.Fatneck73 wrote:Im not after BHP...prefer Torque...so i guess i leave well alone.

Ady i think you have gone the long way round with the manifold. When I did mine, I nudged the caps out with a long bolt by tapping with a hammer. Once flaps removed, i locate the caps back in place. So when I deflated, it cost just the loctite.
Exhaust wise, res delete, remove you aux radiator and fit an air pipe straight to the air box, from where the aux rad was. Induction noise is greatly increased and sounds awesome. Again the cost for that was the pipe. But its a bumper off job.
Hope that helps.

I originally did it like that but one of the caps came loose and I <beep> myself so then went the failsafe way.
