Analogue TV update to digital

Post by RS4_Dan » Thu Jun 18, 2020 4:52 pm

After trawling through this website and that website, companies offering the upgrade service I wanted to see if anyone could offer advice and/or opinion before I spend my cash!

My 06 RS4 was factory fitted with the analogue tv tuner and rns-e so clearly just snow on the screen now. And with the lock down I am working through my grumble list on the car like a lot of us.

Whilst I am unlikely to use it too much it would be nice to have it working.

I know it has the two double cables for the picture and the main connector for the loom connection and have seen the following two options for hybrid replacement:

A8/A6 4E0 910 148A (2006)
TT /A3 8J0 919 148B & C (2009 & 2012)

Now both are similar money and I know that the fakre connections are slightly different sizes on the hybrid units - can deal with that. But what have others fitted? I want to keep the OEM look. Is it the case (like bluetooth) that the newer the better?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Dan

Looking forward to seeing what comes up on this. It's also a niggle for me and would be great to find an OEM look solution (even if I'd rarely use it).

The other option is thought of is using the analogue TV feed for a rear view camera but not sure how easily this could be done.

Pretty sure the A3 reversing camera can be fitted to the number plate light position. Think Kafutec do a kit - but its not cheap

I’ve not had that specific thing done, but would really recommend these guys for any infotainment/electronic jobs

Mine still has the original rsn-e and has working DTV. Not sure if it was like this from new or a previous owner has upgraded it?
