Best pads for fast road/ occasional track use

Post by p18cdp » Sun May 31, 2020 4:48 pm

I'm sure this has been done to death but only found old threads...

My pad warning light came on the other day and I'm looking for new, will do front and rear at the same time.

The car sits in the garage most of the time and comes out for a blast now and again, usually fairly local as I've got some much more economical cars for long distance. So just used for that and maybe one track day a year.

I've heard mixed reviews with oem vs yellowstuff - what's people's opinions on here and where is best to get them from (UK)?

Thanks in advance

Having recently looked into this myself, Ferodo DS2500s are a very good option. No pad sensor on the front but easy to sort if you’re current ones have them to keep the warning light off.

Carbotech XP8s / 10s also worth a look

DS2500's, you can just use your old brake pad wire and close the circuit to stop the brake light coming on and check pad wear by looking at your pads through your wheels.
These pads on a RS4 B7 should be standard issue, they are phenominal in the wet and dry and on the track.
RS4 B7, Mugello Blue, K&W V3 & HR ARBs, set up by Centre Gravity, Milltek Valved Non Res & cat bypass pipes, BMC air filter, braided hoses, DOT 5.1, Terraclean, MRC Full Carbon Clean, MRC remap 448PS 477NM, 20" S7 alloys with 4mm spacers & Hawke spigots 66.6 > 57.1, AP Racing front discs. Sold Sept 2019. Now rocking an F80 M3
