SS+ suspension

Post by MCPCJC » Tue May 19, 2020 10:41 am

Hi everyone
I posted this in the hello section by mistake.
I have a B7 RS4 and wanted to know the difference with the SS+ setup, mine is standard. Is it just lower springs or are there other components that have been changed.
Thanks

10mm drop in ride height via firmer shorter springs. Dampers are different as well, along with a slightly thicker rear anti-roll bar.

There is a full set of DRC SS+ dampers and springs (for a saloon) on ebay including center control valves.

You could just fit H&R lowering springs (same 10mm height drop) and the SS+ rear arb for now and then replace the dampers to SS+ spec when they fail?

Hi Thanks for the info
I have just had (last 6 months) all 4 DRC shocks replaced so was wondering if I could just fit the rear arb? What’s the difference in thickness and would it make much difference to my car, would it be ok with my springs and shocks.

Rear ARB is 2mm thicker. A guy in here did it a few years back and said it made a noticeable difference to how the car turned in.

I would try that first and if you still want a little more, fit H&R lowering springs.

These are a little firmer but improve handling without compromising comfort too much.

They are also designed to work with the standard SS dampers.

You can always take them back off again....

If you buy the rear ss+ anti roll bar you will need the bushes and brackets too, might be cheaper to just get a rear H&R bar as it comes with them

Can you buy just the rear H&R bar? I only ever saw them for sale as a pair as that is how they are designed to be used.

The SS+ and the 034 rear are designed to work with the OEM front.

Not sure how a car would handle with just the H&R rear fitted?

You are right enough about the bushes and brackets needed for the SS+ rear though.

So if I fitted just the SS+ rear arb would this be ok with my standard shocks and springs (not cause any mismatch problems. Is the front arb on the SS+ the same thickness as my one.

Thicker rear anti roll bar helps the car rotate better in harsh cornering . Cant hurt just doing the rears .
