Hi all,

So a few months ago i noticed the first signs of bubbling on my 2006 B7 RS4.

Took it to my local Audi approved body Shop.

Price seems steep to me? Windscreen and back window come out which adds some labour and materials.
Comes with Audi guarantee certificate?

Labour: £770
Parts: £248
Paint Materials: £322
Additional Items: £54

Total inc VAT: £1674

Price with discount offered £1429

Thats definitely steep for a roof but i suppose its the specific guarantee you are paying for.

Yes i hadn't appreciated it comes with an "Audi Guarantee". I will ask clarification on what that means exactly.
Most likely just a guarantee of the standard of workmanship and quality of materials used. Not sure it will come with a x-Year guarantee.

I was just looking for a good body Shop so started with Audi approved.

It is also just the roof panel and not blending into the rear quarter / upper panels. As luckily we caught it early and the rust is only on the roof side of the gutter.

If it's just the roof why do they need to take the rear glass etc. out?

The seals for both front and rear glass overlap the roof paint it seems.

Have you got a photo of where its rusting?
Just so I can keep an eye on mine.

I had small bubbling on passenger side near the back. Luckily managed to get it done under 12 year goodwill. They didn't take any glass out but did need to order a new rail insert so be prepared for costs creeping.
Would rechallenged the glass removal.

Will inquire about the glass. Plan to get a second quote for reference and to compare proposed procedures.

They will need to remove headling and pillar trims to get the roof rails off and that will take time as well.

Do you have a saloon or Avant?
Just asking as your signature says saloon and roof rails to me means avant.

GaryA. We’re you still inside 12 years when you had the work done with “goodwill.” I have a number of bubbles on mine now and another door trim that needs to be replaced, that will be my second one. Body Shop quoted 9K CAD to paint 8 panels with a lifetime warranty. I’m trying to decide what I would like to do. My car has 256K km on it. I still use mine as a daily driver.

I had my roof sorted for the same reason, but glass stayed in as they used plastic lifters. Whilst in I had the bonnet and lower sides on the front doors all sorted. Plus one bubble on the boot. All in £1750, including stage 2 polish and ceramic coating
