Glovebox Fridge retrofit
Glovebox Fridge retrofit
Has anybody retrofitted a fridge / cooling box to their B7? I've got a second hand one but it's currently installed in an old glovebox and apart from using brute force to remove I can't figure out how to get it out.
There are 3 x torx screws along the bottom, which I've undone, and that's as far as I've got....
Can anyone help?

Re: Glovebox Fridge retrofit
Open the cooler door and at the back there may be the inlet plug from the A/C. Unscrew and remove that and the whole unit should slide out, if you’ve removed the 3 T8 screws.

Thanks Kenny - have removed the inlet plug and the 3 x screws so just keep pulling?Kenny147 wrote:Open the cooler door and at the back there may be the inlet plug from the A/C. Unscrew and remove that and the whole unit should slide out, if you’ve removed the 3 T8 screws.

Forgot.....there are two clips about 4 cm in from each end at the top. You’ll probably need to “lift” the glove box shelf above the cooler, up a bit to get it out.

No worries, google “ECS glove box cooler kit” and you’ll find instructions on how to fit the cooler pipe.
Easier if I just link it. See below.

Re: Glovebox Fridge retrofit
Thank you again for this. Just released the cooler by prying up the 'shelf' which would normally hold the CD changer and it came out very easily.Kenny147 wrote:Forgot.....there are two clips about 4 cm in from each end at the top. For anyone else looking at doing this remove the 3 Torx screws, unscrew the vent at the back (inside the cooler) and then lift up the shelf with a trim removal took to release these 2 catches and it'll slide out.

Out of interest does the AC have to be on for this to work?
Also how cold does it actually get?

Re: Glovebox Fridge retrofit
I didn't expect much if it but so far I'm very impressed. My air con is on all the time, well temp is set on auto, and it's damn cold, even with eco mode on.

Unfortunately, there are two clips at the top, one around 4 cm from each end. To remove the cooler, you'll likely need to "raise" the shelf in the glove box above it a little bit.

I had one in my first RS and thought it was a waste of space to be honest.
