You are absolutely spot-on. I had the dreaded valve stem problem so opted for a reconditioned engine. Through some bad luck (getting a recommendation off a friend of a mechanic mate of his who turned out not to be very good) and loads of issues caused by this "mechanic" I ended up spending around £12K on it. It's running absolutely amazing now but jeez these things burn money like crazy when anything goes wrong with them.Grandadg90 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2019 8:40 pmIt's the consumables that are mega expensive on an RS. People dont really look into then when buying, as well as £550/year road tax and 15mpg, they are expensive to run. Then you have the common issues like aux rad, oil cooler pipes. Then there are other other issues such as manifold issues, clutch/flywheel issues, secondary injection issues, list goes on. Then you will want to mod/tune again quite expensive. Great great cars, dont get me wrong, I've owned 3 different RS's.
Please go in with your eyes wide open.
In the last 6 months mine has had a new clutch, flywheel, ECU, suspension, reconditioned engine, fuel injectors and countless smaller ancillary parts.
