The Police are gathering forensic data, even got one of their phones which can be pinpointed at my house. I'll let you know what happens as it pans out may be a while. My new by folding doors now fcuked.

Sorry to hear this mate. Glad you’re ok.

When you replace the glass use laminated glass units, not toughened. The latter breaks into million pieces for safety and it’s cheap. Laminated is like a front car windscreen. Takes a long time to get through it and screwdrivers or paving slabs won’t touch it.

Plus the laminated makes a big noise reduction from outside.

I'll certainly look into laminated glass, I need the insurance verdict though, I'll speak with them tomorrow morning.

If you haven't got cctv already, get some up. May help deter the cnuts in the future. Have the cameras in clear view so they know they're being watched. Some of the cnuts don't care if they're caught on them, but it may put others off.

I am so glad you are ok and the car is still in one piece.

It is always a concern of mine, I am very fortunate to have a double garage so mine is always in there. My wife and I always take our car keys with us too even if we aren't using either of the cars.

As others have suggested it might be an idea to get some cameras set up in obvious places, I have my whole house fitted with cameras and sensored lighting. The sesnsored lighting actually saved me once, as two little s***s broke into all my neighbours cars and then went to break into my house and were deterred by the lights. Thankfully they were caught on camera at my house and my neighbours.

This

Sorry to hear of the break-in mate. Sounds like the police have done a good job though - don’t hear of the fuckers getting caught too often.

As well as buying laminated panes - 3M do some security film that would further reinforce the glass. Only worthwhile if the film goes all the way to the edge of the glass, and under the bead. There are videos online of someone trying to smash through with an axe and it takes a surprisingly long time.
