Carbon Cleaning In 2 Weeks

Post by demon8991 » Wed Sep 04, 2019 3:23 am

Hi All,

Taking my car into Audi in a couple of weeks for a service and full carbon clean.

My dealership now has an OEM Walnut Shell blasting machine and charges $1000 (AUD) for a full clean including chemical clean for the intake manifold.

Just wanted to check whether there should be anything else I should get inspected whilst they are there?

I also plan to get before and after photos of the valves. Roughly speaking do you think it is possible to gauge how much power the car might have lost?

Thanks

Mileage? You might want to change/clean your injectors, change the 2 fuel pressure regulators, the PCV, some of the solenoids / check valves that are underneath the intake, the figure 8 seal that goes at the base of the oil housing and the valley pan gasket.

These are the things I can think off and some could be dependent on the vehicles mileage. In any case you might as well take advantage of the shared labor given that the Intake Manifold is off

It has done 136,000km.

Without the receipts in front of me, I know it had its last clean around 30,000km ago however that was before my ownership. After that clean was done it did a lot of city driving, hence why I am getting the work done.

Thanks so much for the advice, I will mention it to the technicians.

Interesting pics but unfortunately the last two of the 'After' (which are probably of sparkling valves) are not showing.

Apologies, is that working now?
