Clutch pedal stuck

Post by Gary(rs4)87 » Tue Aug 13, 2019 9:17 am

Hi,

When I driving the car hard sometimes, the clutch stuck on the middle way back. And when the car stop for an hour then press the clutch also stuck.

And I can hear rattling noise between 1400-2200rpm.
Strange is that if I’m driving like a grandpa than everything is fine. Clutch is stuck 1 times/month.

Anyone has an idea why? Return pipe fine. Slave cylinder fine.

Gary. Very common problem. Consensus seems to be to live with it until you can afford to replace the whole clutch and flywheel assm.

Rock auto (USA) are cheap for parts, including shipping and taxes to the UK.

Lots of info on this exact issue on the forum already.

Robnic does a magical return pipe which everyone suggests installing.

I've the same sticky clutch pedal issue if I drive like a real lunatic but I've learnt to live with it for now, and to be honest I rarely drive like a lunatic! New clutch perhaps next year.

You're in good company!
Jamie

Yes i have a new pipe and slave cylinder. But not fitted because when checked both of them it was in very good condition. I’ve ordered new clutch from Rockauto but because the clutch not slipping i was thinking that it can be different things.

So you’ve had exactly same issue? Or still have it?

This may be a simple fix - I had it years ago and changed slave and master cylinder to no effect. Then I read in evo about a similar problem with Focus ST/RSs. Graham Goode Racing were the quoted experts, and their solution was to change the clutch fluid for one with a higher boiling point, recommending Dot 5.1 I had this done, at a fairly nominal cost.

Never had the problem again.

Try it - if it doesn't work at least you've not spent much, but if it does you've saved yourself a lot of money...

Hi

when i drive hard and slow down i noticed when i push the pedal back it comes back to normal and drives normal and not a problem at all , my clutch is not slipping.

Not an issue at all but after i drive hard it feels strange because when i push it back to the normal place you have 50% more distance to the pedal and it's kinda weird.

Maybe the Master or the slave needs to get replaced after i figured out my misfire issue on low rpms because when i drive fast and slow down or crusing in neutral on downhill road misfires start on Bank 2 5-8 cylinders.

Also i don't have rattling noises!

Let me know if you fix your clutch problem!

Like I say, try clutch fluid as per previous post.

Have you tried what I suggest re clutch fluid? I have never had a repeat of this problem after having this done.

Came across the receipt for this yesterday, so that's 7+ years without the problem!

Yes I will change the clutch. But VRS Northampton and other specialist said no issue with the clutch but because probably the flywheel rattling I will change it.
