Rear Springs

Post by cherub72 » Fri Aug 02, 2019 9:46 pm

Hi, got in the car on Wednesday morning and there was a terrible racket coming from the back as I started to drive away. Turns out that one of the rear springs had rusted then snapped and dropped down onto the drive shaft.

Is this a common problem? all fixed now as can be seen from the dent in my wallet. Got 2 new springs plus all the associated rubbers done at the same time

If they are the original springs, 12 years out of them is pretty good going! Is your cab on SS or SS+ suspension?

There are a full set of SS+ used springs on ebay just now but think they are for an Avant.

Your old seats are still going well :-)

Not sure if I'm SS or SS+, will have to take a peek at the original spec sheet, I've got it in a drawer somewhere.

Good to hear the seats are holding up, my covers keep coming loose so I'm going to have to see why and get them to stay in place

Yes, seats are still going well and look almost new. My upper covers unclip at the back on a pretty regular basis to be honest, I just fix them when I notice which is not that often as never sit in the back!
