What would you recommend and where from?

Euro car parts trw aren’t too bad as a road pad, they have a sale on now so can be had for under £70

TRW is basically an oem pad

Ferodo DS2500. Once you've experienced them you won't look back.
EBC =
TRW = Normal and poo in the wet

Imo trw are great in the wet and when cold/initial bite.
They do dust and fade under hard use.
Good street pad imo
Bear in mind, the more aggressive the pad the more rotor wear. Pads cheaper than rotors.
Pads should be matched front/rear

Pads do not have much to do with stopping distance
Brake torque is the same, ie, you can lock the wheels with any pad, hence abs
Tire contact/coefficient of friction, car weight, road surface coefficient of friction

Different pad compounds can optimize coef of fric for various temperature ranges.
Street pads work well at low temps (not so well at high)
Performance/race at higher (but poor at low)

2500 very good but noisy
What ever euro is selling is all dung!
Highly recommend HAWK
Hawk HP Plus on the fronts and Hawk HPS on the rears

Another oem brand is Textar
My Mercedes and Brembo marked pads bought from the MB dealer are stamped as made by Textar. (Above MB star)
TRW, Textar,Lucas are oem for many MB, BMW,Audi applications

I really want to do the same setup but I'm afraid of Rotor wear. These pads are very aggressive.

All good here. Discs/rotors are consumables. Albeit expensive items but I’d rather have good stopping power during the life of the disc than inferior braking and longer disc life. No issues so far anyway though.

Good idea to drill out the holes in the discs periodically as they clog with dust and can’t disperse heat as efficiently.

You can get replacement discs that are slotted / J hook, etc from places like Reylands. http://www.reyland.co.uk/

Brake pads do not affect braking distance until they are above (or below) their operating temperature, unlikely in a street car. An oem will have better performance when wet or cold.

There is no reason for Audi to cheap out on pads:
-Liability
-Cost delta is moot, especially when factored into total vehicle cost
-They don't care about rotor wear, not warranty covered
-They design for the best street performance
-the brakes are designed for >160 mph, how fast do you go?

imho I can't out engineer Audi, Brembo, TRW, Textar, etc.

If you track the car get a set for the track and swap them when you go

Question for our German friends:
Are you allowed to use non oem pads?
Do aftermarket pads have to have TUV certification?
