In need of some advice guys.

Hi all. Bought my second rs4 avant 2 months ago. It's on 80k miles and has an extensive history with Audi, unit 20,Mrc and another specialist. It was used as a daily for last 7 years and now for me just a weekend toy. From last week I,m now getting the cold start rattle which seems to be lasting longer each time. It quietens down and seems fine once warm. I've only known of one other to have the chains replaced and that was on 150k. I think it's always had castrol edge 5-30 so is there a better oil to try or would 5-40 help. I,m gutted to think there could be a large bill so soon I searched far and wide for what I thought was a great example and an enthusiast owned car. My last one was close to 100k and that used to sit months in winter and not a single noise on first fire up. Anyone had similar or know of other similar mileage cars with issues. All help appreciated folks.

Have you taken it somewhere reputable to be looked at? I started to get cold start misfires around 80k miles. Ended up replacing the injectors - though they could just need a good clean.

Enthusiast owned and well cared for car increases likelihood of success but doesn't guarantee it. Nobody has owned a 14yr old B7 RS4 yet... I wouldn't be too disappointed. The rest of the car should be strong.

I bought a full service history, stock and well cared for B7 in 2016 with just under 60k miles. My repair bill over 3 years is around $15k AUD (£8k) Expensive cars to own.

Have you checked the oil level? My one goes through 0.5-0.75l per 1000 miles. If it is running low that might be why it is getting steadily noiser?

Good to see you back in an RS4 though, these cars get under your skin.
