I’m currently pricing up everything for a 20k mile service and I’m just curious, would you change the belts and would you fit a magnetic sump plug?
Cheers

I wouldn’t pay stealer prices, it’s going to my local garage I use. I thought about doing it myself but the price he has given me is a no brainer. He is going to sum up the job of the clutch pipe when it’s in and he is going to check the belts. I put one on my M3 when I serviced it but I’m not sure if it’s a gimmick or not.
I’ll see what he says about the belt when he has a look. Maybe it’s just a gimmick, I never had the one I put on my M3 out personally to see if there was anything stuck to it.MIDZ wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 12:01 amIf I was going to the trouble of changing serpentine belt I'd replace the tensioner too, purely because of age.
I've seen magnetic drain plugs on diffs & gearboxes but never on engines, possibly because most anti-friction bearings (big/small ends, mains) are non-ferrous and won't stick to the magnet anyway.
