Well after a nice wee £2.5 spend on oil cooler.pipes.new aux rads and engine mount,it’s time for some extras , picked up an ECS resonator delete pipe, want to keep the exhaust standard looking as I am an old man now lol, are these ok 👌

They are good, and used to have one. I have an X now and prefer the smoother less raspy sound. However, both better than stock, and I am am not that young either! :)

I have an X pipe too, cost $240 (AUD) done by a local exhaust fabricator. My thoughts are the same as Seattle-squash.

Coincidentally, the guy made a mistake and did straight pipes first and so i got to drive it like that, there were two distinct sounds that met together around 4000 rpm sounded good but not what I wanted.

He re did it the next day (free of charge) and the x pipe merges those sounds from the get go, sounds brilliant now. Love it.

Make sure you ask to keep your resonator should you ever want to put it back in or sell it on in future to the next owner, if that happens

I don't think so, its noisier obviously, maybe 20% but it sounds more raw as it should.

I love it.

I didn't use the ECS pipes but did a similar thing by chopping out my resonators. Sounded so much better for almost no cost. Not too loud and no drone.

Then did the same mod on my C7 which kept me smiling for 3 years.

Well I am quite impressed with it. My mate has a Miltec and is even quite impressed, think I will connect the valves back up though as makes a right noise on cold start

If you do that, I bet they will be disconnected before long. Cold start doesn’t last that long. Glad you like the results though.

Cheers

Flaps are open by default on cold start from memory anyway.

I miss cold start with the stage 2 :( not that I’ve had cold start for a very long time, haha

The campsite next to me love an early morning 6am cold start....... :-)

Think the exhaust valves are open for a second or two before the system builds up enough vacuum to close them on startup.

Can't be sure as mine have been disconnected for years.

The engine revs drop down as soon as you bring the clutch fully up whilst in gear if you don't want the engine sitting at 2000rpm for 30 odd seconds. Although the SAI pump still runs makes it noiser during that period.
