Hello all,

I am very happy to announce that I have finally bought myself a car I have wanted since I first saw Clarkson drive it on TG.

I hope these images work ok, but let me know if they don't.

The car was in very good condition with the exception that it needed the front inner cv boot replaced which I did on the weekend and it has a minor oil leak which I hope to locate this weekend once it goes up on my mates hoist. Full strip down carbon clean was done 24,000km ago and it has new tyres and brakes all round.

I don't intend to mod it heavily at this stage however I had the resonator deleted today and replaced with an x-pipe, sounds even better now. I also got the cylinders chemically cleaned today as well, I know this isn't the best way to do it but I figured it couldn't hurt as it was well priced and the full clean was done reasonably recently too.

I am also toying with the idea of replacing the head-unit with an Apple Car play one, just trying to decide which one to get. Any help with that would be greatly appreciated??!!

Next question I have is I would like to restore all four wheels back to their former glory. Does anyone have any advice on this? I don't want to change the colour as I like the "silver" look with the black car. What colour do I need to ask for and is there a particular process I should request to ensure they last and look good?

I hope that you enjoy it as much as you expect to - I think you should. That TG piece was the final push I needed to buy one and it'll be twelve years at the wheel as of January (not continually, I might add...)

I had my wheels redone to a very high standard a few years back, but alas need to have them done again as I kerbed one badly last week. Will go to the same place, which I can recommend if you are anywhere near the midlands. They were slightly more expensive than standard silver as Audi wheels have a slightly 'pearlescent' finish.

Welcome along.

Your new toy looks in great condition. The first photo works for me but the rest don’t. I’ve got straight pipes and my valves always open, it sounds great, I assume the valves are done on yours? If not, next job on your list.

I recently replaced my headunit with a Sony CarPlay unit, take a look at my build thread. Any questions, just ask.

Cheers

I am already loving it to be honest, the sheer drama of the V8 is just incredible. The quality of the materials inside are top notch and it has aged so so well both inside and out.

I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia so might be a bit of a mission to get to the midlands  I left England 7 years ago to live out here. Have you got any photos of your wheels?

That's strange as they are all working for me, I have them hosted on Google Photos there are four photos in total.

I removed the vacuums to the valves on the weekend and plugged them with golf teas, sounds very good. Any reason you went for straight pipes over x pipes?

Thanks, I will look at your thread.

They were on there when I bought it. But reading between X pipe, H pipe and straight pipes, the differences are marginal if anything.

Cheers

Hey, Welcome, I think I just posted on your thread on Oz Audi.

Check out the Alpine ILX-107 or the Pioneer AVIC-W8400NEX

As far as I know these are the only two head units on the market with Wireless CarPlay and capacitive touch. Both are 7”, the pioneer supports android auto as well where the Alpine is only Apple.
