ok a number of fault codes have came back from my car, for those who are not aware of my issue please read my other post first but in short some days my car will start perfectly fine, some days when I have a warning light showing the car will turn over but not start up. All this has been explained in my previous post so I wont bore you with all that.

So these faults, very strange, some faults showing I have absolutely no issue with ?? so those I cant understand, and only 3 I would say could possibly be the fault but again I really don't think so but that's why im asking for advice, I will show the results of 3 scans, explain what I think below each and if anyone can advise then please do.

1ST SCAN ENGINE OFF / IGNITION ON

004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent ok the bottom one CMR is the actual light that when shows on my dash the car will not start BUT this fault if indeed was the issue would not stop the car starting up, so I can only assume this is showing because the light does/has shown up on my dash previously so that doesn't help matters really, no idea what ECM does and would this stop my car starting ? and the CMA again would not stop my car starting.

Not Recogn. again this seems to work fine, when dash light says top up tyre pressures i do, all seems to work fine, no idea again why these are showing


SO THAT WAS SCAN 1 ingnition on engine not running, scan two next

2ND SCAN ENGINE RUNNING...

basically showing the same as scan 1

ALL CODES WERE THEN CLEARED and re scanned for a 3rd time

BASICALLY, all faults came back and showing the same as first scan I think, so what is my next move ?????

remembering that since I have removed the upgraded bulbs, the car has started up every day for the last 4 or 5 days without any issue but that could be the intermittent fault so I cant assume anything at the moment so still no the wiser

I think 01314 is the fault code to focus on at the moment. Have a read of this http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/01314

EDIT: Also address 01 02 03 didn't scan (maybe others as well, I can't remember)

ok I will have a read and look into it, not sure where about's this module is but will try and find out on you tube or something, Currently the car is running fine as you know so its a case of will it wont it do it again now

The last time I saw as many error codes as that was when my battery was failing. Do you know the last time it was changed?

If it is not the battery then looks like you have major electrical issues there.

Possibly a wiring loom fault?

ok update.....

I was about to say since removing the lights, the car has been perfect UNTIL TONIGHT, couldn't unlock / lock car on button, once inside alarm went off and once put the key in ignition the alarm stopped BUT car now has that issue again and will not start up ???

Is this now pointing towards the immobiliser ??? and if so is that a complete engine module replacement ??? A few keep mentioning the battery, and obviously I cant say its not BUT it is a new one from only last year and there is plenty of juice allowing the car to turn over, and once this light on the dash is no longer showing the car does indeed fire up so I cant see how its the battery personally but I cant rule it out either but I have no reason to think this is battery related, I am getting F****ED OFF now though

Honestly, I'd charge the battery and see how you get on.
I've had a few problems starting mine recently but fingers crossed, after fitting a new battery it's been OK.
The battery I replaced was less than 2 years old and probably didn't need changing, just a good charge.

ok but even when the battery has full power ???

I have seen a few you tube videos, apparently there are 2 or 3 relays under the ecu which can stop cars starting on the a4 b7, BUT where is the ecu on a RS4 ?

I'd start with charging the battery, at least you can eliminate that if you still have problems.
Start with the simple stuff...

If its battery, and when this fault happens again, if I jump the car with leads from my van, and the car starts would that then point to battery ??? or will this not have the same affect as charging the battery ? just a thought that's all

Remember jump leads, from a vehicle with engine running, give a lot more voltage than a battery when driving a starter.
So yes, if that happened it may well indicate a weak battery.

ok lets go with that one then next time this happens, which im guessing will be later today or tomorrow lol, not sure why im laughing though, I feel like I want to kill someone or something ie the car

Point of caution with regards to the battery. Prior to clearing the fault codes the car started no problem, we then cleared the fault codes and then started the car again with no problem and then re-scanned giving the 3rd set a scan results. So in my mind the battery seamed to be OK although but there were a shed load of fault codes on the 3rd scan appearing after a clear out
